Me and my boyfriend are planning a trip to the El Dorado Royale August 26-Sep 2. We have heard different reviews about the beach and would really like to know what to expect. Is it really rocky? And where exactly are the sand bags that I keep hearing about? Are they really unattractive?

We just got back from a week at the EDR. The beach is rocky only in a couple of places, otherwise it is gorgeous white sugar sand and clear warm water. The sand bags only make the beach much nicer because it protects it from erosion. They are also kind of fun to play on. I've been to a lot of beaches and this is my favorite one. Don't worry about beach shoes.

Looking for an adult AI in Playa del Carmen area mid winter. Considering El Dorado Royale and Secret Capri. Quality of beach, quiet and very good to great food most important. Anyone with personal experience with either?
