Wedding at Grand Occidental Cozumel

Postby scubacutie on Sat Mar 01, 2008 11:05 am

We're getting married at the Grand Occidental in Cozumel Mexico in November 2008. Has anyone had or been to a wedding at this resort in Coz? I'm looking for any details regarding the level of satisfaction and services provided. I am working with the on-site Wedding Coordinator, but need additional info on best Photographers to use, Make-Up artists and hair stylists.

Feedback is appreciated!!!

So Excited!!!!

Married in COZ at Occidental

Postby rh0612 on Thu May 01, 2008 6:58 am

I am also getting married at the Occidental in November of 2008. Are you working with Ricardo? May I ask what date you are getting married on?

I use Trip Advisor, and found some pretty good reviews about the hotel. If you view traveler's photos...look for a wedding picture, then click to read review there is some decent info there.

Not sure if this link will work, but here is one such review:

As we start our planning, I know we will need some of the same things. If we find anything out we will pass it along.

Yes, we're using Ricardo as our planner. We're getting married on Wednesday November 19th by a judge, and we're having our reception at the rooftop Piazza restaurant. Ceremony will be on the beach.

How about you? What date are you getting married? Have you found a photographer or worked out any of the details yet.

Please keep in touch with any key info you may find out. We've stayed at this resort several times before, and I highly recommend it.

There is a new wedding post on tripadvisor, and the brides review is extremely positive.

Congrats!

Wedding at Grand Occidental Cozumel

Who is your wedding coordinator? We just got married a week ago at Allegro/Holiday Village which is own and operated by the same people, I think the wedding Coordinatoer goes back and forth from the two resorts since they are oly a few minuets apart.. Our entire experience was horrid, everything we had planned they changed when we got there, we were lied to over and over. The nighclub/disco we were told was open which is where our reception was suppose to be plus they said it was open, NOPE it's closed. The wedding coordinator made me cry just minuetes before I walked down the asile and she had me all stressed out about everything! It wasn't worth the money or hassle and disrespect that we had tu endure, Our hotel was still under consturuction, the picture's that they show'd us are not what you will get and if you do like it they all of a sudden they tell you it's an extra charge. I've heard of other resorts that had great wedding packages that were Included in your stay.

Word of advice, check as many hotel reviews as possible, we found that out after wards and there were tons of bad reviews about our resort and they were a lot of the same complaints, if I had known we wouldn't have gone,

50% deposit of the complete package is required 14 days after confirmation is received. Final payment is due 30 days prior to ceremony. A cancellation penalty of $300.00 will apply to all wedding packages if cancelled within 45 days of wedding date. When canceling a wedding ceremony, a written confirmation must be received from assigned coordinator in order to complete the cancellation process.

Wedding at Grand Occidental Cozumel

Postby Justin Bregar on Thu Feb 25, 2010 8:13 am

I was just there last month and a couple were married at the Occidental Grand. They rented the Beach Bar and Restaurant for the evening Very romantic...I know a number of the hotels will do a simple ceremony. You will have to make arrangements in advance if you are getting ready to married. Make sure you double check with the Hotel, they have a way of not getting the message to the right people. Bring all your friends and have a great time. I remember the wedding being at the beach and pool side at sunset. This added to the romance.
