I am considering a visit? Any reviews? How far to the beach just for a swim? How is the diving? food?accomodations?

We have stayed at Fantasy Island two times. It is situated on the beach and you can swim there or off the gazebo. The rooms are large--the second floor has vaulted ceilings. The staff is outstanding. The second time we were there it had changed ownership and the food was wonderful--really extraordinary. If you are diving, the boats go out twice a day and are well run and well equipped. I would highly recommend the resort as some place to just relax. There isn't much to do except water sports.

If you do go Ask to have bed treated for mites worked wonders after 5 nights of living hell itching!

If you are looking for the best beach location with nice water on Roatan and would also like to consider a beach house is such a location check out the smaller beach houses on the west bay village complex. Barefoot Dream has a nice beach level unit. Several dive outfits steps away as well as restrurants.
