Heading down south (maybe for good)

Postby Carolinacanes on Mon Aug 13, 2007 1:11 pm

Hello all,
This is my first post on the board and i have not had an a lot of time to read all of the post (could take days, maybe years, lol) i wanted to gather information and advice from a wide spectrum of sorces ,including the members of this community, about younger people who want a change and what they should do. i will not use this post as my soapbox about the meaning of life or the lack there of stateside or the constant disappointment of the way "you are supposed to live". Im sure that i am not the only one that pops in a buffet CD and dreams about a better life in a different place. my current situation is this: my whole life i have dreamed of getting out of here. i live in coastal north carolina and have salt water in my veins. i dream of the ocean and have a wanderlust mentality that is a thurst that is hard to quench. i have traveled the U.S. extensively and lived in San Francisco and in Philadelphia. i am ready to get out and get to a slower life style.

long story short... i am in the process of learning spanish and trying to save some money just to get down there (mexico, central america, im open to suggestions) and live for a couple months.

so here is the question: how should I and people in my position go about finding work (preferable before i leave) and finding a place to live. i would like to work in an enviroment where i can use english to my advantage (hotels or tourist industry) and still take in the rich coultural differences. maybe i live in a dream world but i know i can make it work.
any advice would be more than appreciated but post anyway if you can relate to this or have decided to make your move in this world. enough is enough and its time for a change. im sure everyone can relate to that.
thanks
Charles
