jacqueline,
Yes, September is "way" in hurricane season. However that does not mean there will be a hurricane!!! The tropical storm season usually falls between August and November.
I have traveled to the Caribbean often during this time frame AND it's a good time to get a good deal.
If you are planning around the weather or you are making reservations months out - then in theory you 'could' plan your trip for later in say November or early December.
Unless I am mistaken Seven Mile Beach is a public beach. You may not be able to travel "through" a hotel to get to the beach but you can simply walk around...? Someone correct me if I am mistaken!
Also, if you are looking for a more "hurricane proof" vacation check out the "Southern Islands" of the Caribbean. For the most part it's very rare for a hurricane to go south. (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia etc.)
I love the Cayman Islands, especially for the snorkeling and diving. But I think St. Lucia is one of the most romantic islands in the Caribbean.
