has any of you won a free trip to the bahamas from special t

Postby Andrea Barboza on Mon Jun 27, 2005 10:42 pm

I received a phone call this morning and the guy told me that I had won a free trip to the bahamas for 4 people, all I have to pay is like $810.00 which is fine considering the cost of the package. But what I want to know is if someone here has traveled by a similar offer, I just don't want to waste that money.

Don't bother with it...a similar thing was sent to my husband's grandmother. She paid for it then gave it to us as a gift...then we had to pay quite a bit extra. Absolute waste of money, and the hotel was rubbish!! 2 star...disgusting! We only went on it because of his grandmother.

[Andrea, Maybe this warning come too late but whatever it is, don't ever take their offer. They are really scam artists. When you decide to travel, they keep asking for more money for anything, such as peak season (rubbish!!) and upgrades. We had bad experience with them. Go to website www. ripoffreport.com and www.consumeraffairs.com/consumer compliants to check on them!

Dont! pay the money, you never see them again. This is a fake compani dragging money out of people, and you pay more then if you were planning all of it yourself. There is too much costs about it. so DONT! i payd the money, and now I cant contact them, like the number wasnt existing.

Rule of Thumb:

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. This is not to say "every" offer or prize is a scam. However, normally you need to have "registered" to win a prize from a reputible company. Then if you "win" you are probably receiving something real.

But random phone calls with special offers or prize winnings are usually scams or the offer/prize has a BIG catch or unmentioned fees.

Don't Pay

If you won a free trip you should not have to pay nothing. If it was me I would keep my money.

I won a "free trip" once to and we did decide to take it. The reason being that the person that offered it to us was very up front when questioned about the fees. We were given a free boat ride from Florida and a hotel, all we paid was the taxes, port fees etc. While this was not a free trip, it did work out for us because we would not have been able to afford it otherwise. However you must be careful, because these trips are not usually run by the most trustworthy people.

Summer Bay - Beginmyvacation.com - Stay VIP

Keep your money! I paid $398 for a 11 night package including a cruise and 2 nights in the Bahamas. You have 7 days to cancel for the refund. I printed everything fromt he website the next day (including webpage view) and it was in writing as explained. Now, after the 7 days, it has changed to "transportation not included but available at extra cost + port fees". I also was not given the hotel accommodations that were confirmed in Orlando but had to pay $160 more for an upgrade to stay at Summer Bay rather than the old, moldy, dirty hotel 11 miles away that they put me at. 1-888-Stay-VIP is a marketing scam!

I remember in the past I got some exciting phone calls from people claiming that I won a prize and I have to sign up to go on a free vacation... There are no free lunches! Just hang up on them. They are trying to sell you a time share! I would never buy a time share!

I clicked a banner once saying I had won a free trip. 3 weeks later i receive a phone call from some dude asking if i remember signing up for discounted trips, i explained him i thought i had won a trip.
I'm not sure what he said the last sentence (I'm norwegian), either he said "Well, you didn't", or "Well, then you have a debit".
It's not like they can charge me for nothing or if I stay home, right?!
And if they dare to send me a bill I can just burn it, right?!
PLEASE, I NEED HELP HERE...

By the way, their url is:
https://www.ashoppingspree.com/

and terms and conditions are:
https://www.ashoppingspree.com/TermsAndConditions.asp

If I get it right, they stress the fact that they lied first, then in terms and conditions say you sign up to get contacted?
My english's not the greatest, so I'm asking.
