Getting to the resort?

Postby DT on Sat Feb 07, 2004 1:10 am

I do not want to rent a car that I will only use twice so I was wondering what the best way to get to the resort would be? I have read about collectivos being fairly inexpensive but are they at the airport or do I have to go somewhere to hire a collectivo to take us. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Collectivos (minivans/airport buses) are fine. They stop at several hotels to drop of guest so it takes awhile longer than if you got a private taxi or rented a car. There right at the airport and before you can ask for a ride, there will be plenty folks asking you if you need a ride. Check to see if Bahia has a bus from the airport - they were talking about it last year. Have fun! Learn the song!

I can recommend dreamdays.com for transportation from the airport to your resort. We had a private, air-conditioned van drive us from the airport to Sunscape Tulum for $130 RT (that's for 2 adults & 3 Children). They were reasonable and efficient.

Also, if you use them. Make sure you do not stop in the Cancun airport at ANY of the so-called "transportation" booths. These are all gimmicks to make you waste time and sollicit a timeshare presentation to you. After you get through customs, grab you own bags and head for the airport door. Dreamdays will have someone waiting just outside the front doors with a sign with your name on it.

Hope this helps
