Postby Dale on Wed Apr 09, 2003 4:27 pm

I have been coming to Jamaica now for 20 years. I would like to find employment there and live there. I am in the hospitality field. I know that in Negril there is a new Rio Property under constuction. I would like to know how I can apply for employment here.

Hi, I am also looking for any kind of job in Jamaica in a resort setting as waitress, bartender, hostess, etc. I am really interested in exploring this country and earning some money at the same time.

I am working on starting a farm in Jamaica. The reason I want to start my own business is that it would be a shame to take a job away from a local. I would much rather focus on creating jobs. Anyway, it is very hard to get a work permit there. You have to have a "special skill"; something that a Jamaican could not do. The longest you can stay in Jamaica without a job is six months. If you have a special skill, then they would most welcome you. It is hard, but JAH! ya gotta try!!!
Good luck. I would visit the Jamaican government website for more info. Also see www.escapeartist.com they have great information and resources for people who want to move out of the USA. PEACE AND LOVE.
