El Dorado Royale

Postby Joanne on Sun Mar 02, 2003 9:07 am

My husband and I are considering a 7-night stay at the El Dorado Royale. We have heard that the beach is "unspoiled". Would you consider this a good swimming beach? Honesty welcome. Your replies are greatly appreciated.

Guess that depends on your definition. I didn't partake directly out front of the resort, due to the beachbreakers and rocks, but if you take a 15 min. hike south, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

I was fortunate to spend 8 days at The El Dorado Royale. I was not happy about the immediate beach front as the ocean floor was "stone like" and you couldn't swim or snorkle without worrying about large rocks. Yes..if you hile about 20 minutes south there are no rocks but I didn't find any fish either.

I am about to take my 4th vacation to Mexico but this time I am going to Cozumel where the water is a bright blue/green and the fish are pleniful. The El Dorado was magnificant with the exception of the dark stone filled waters.

Check out the Reef Club in Cozumel if you really want to be pampered and see the 10th wonder of the world when it comes to snorkeling!!!
