Has anyone recently stayed at the El Dorado Resort & Spa? How would you rate the resort. Is the gym adequate? Any feedback on this resort would be appreciated. Thanks...

I stayed down the beach from them at the Colonial Grand. I didn't think too much of the place. It looked lacking in up keep and things to do.

Stayed there in 1999. Heard it was remodeled in 2001. Don't expect luxury. The resort was very clean and the food was great. Also, don't expect much for the night life. A great place to go and relax. Take a walk along the beach. A little rocky right in front of the resort, but on either side, it's a beautiful, sandy beach. To the right (facing ocean) of the hotel, about 1/4 - 1/2 mile down is a turtle sanctuary.

Stayed there twice, was wrong place to stay- place smells like sewer, rooms leak, no beach. If you are beginner in snorkling you will like , bars are pretty lame, we moved to another hotel. So dont want to be to tough on them but alot better hotels out there for the money. oh we go to cancun every year in january this will be our seventh year. We love it but thought you may want to invest your money wisely

Stayed there in 2002. Not good. Smelled awful, food bad. I actually lost weight while I was there. Service mediocre at best. MUCH, MUCH better for the price. Have stayed in many resorts. This is the worst.
