El Dorado Resort or El Dorado Royale?

Postby Robbie on Thu Feb 20, 2003 9:01 am

We are hoping to spend a week in the PDC area later this spring and are considering the El Dorado Resort and Spa on Kantenah Beach. However, there appears to be some confusion between the El Dorado Resort and the El Dorado Royale on Punta Brava Beach. We would appreciate any comments, advice or tips about the El Dorado Resort from anyone who has been there in the last few months. Gracias, Robbie.

Robbie, I've prefer the Resort and Spa over the Royale. It's a lot smaller with more personnal attention. The staff is great!!!! Be sure you ask for room 2001 or 2002 or 2004........... A small building with only 3 rooms, close to the pool, bar, food,etc..(beach front)

I am going to the El Dorado Royale Resort with a girlfriend the end of April. I have stayed at the Rui Palace in the Riviera and loved it. My concern is that I've heard the beach is rough and rocky and that the food wasn't the greatest. Am I going to be disappointed the beach at the Rui Palace was calm and beautiful. Anyone who has stayed there please comment. Thank you. Pam

How would you rate the El Dorado Resort and Spa? Any suggestions on what to see or do? How are the water sports?

I just returned from staying at the El Dorado Royale. Travel agent screwed up and put us at the El Dorado Resort.
We only stayed at the Resort for 1 day.
My opinion is that if all you want to do is drink and eat and not spend much time in the room, go to the Resort.
I would NOT recommend this if you are going with a significant other.
Cost difference is around $800 per week per couple. It is well worth it. I told my wife that it was like going from hell to paradise when we straightened out the goof up.
By the way, make sure you travel document says "Royale" or "Resort".
I guess they get these 2 hotels mixed up all the time.
You can email me with questions if you would like.
