Iv been told that the water is unsafe and that you shouldnt get ice cubes in your drink because they could give you disease.

How true is this? Does anyone know? Thankyou in advance

Mikey,

It depends on "where" you are. First ask the bartender or waiter where the ice comes from - tap water, treated water or bought bags of ice. Most major resorts all use treated water today. Smaller hotels, inns etc you should check. Also, if you are "in-town" again just ask where the ice comes from.

Also, you will not get a disease. Rather it's microscopic organisms in the water that disagree with people not used to them. This is what would casue an upset stomach or diarrhea. (You could get a disease if the water is completely untreated - as in they simply used ground water. Which should not really be an issue.)

To be on the safe side go to a 4 star hotel and drink only bottled water. Don't worry about the ice.
