Coco Beach Reef Club, PDC

Postby Alex on Sat Nov 01, 2003 8:04 pm

I would be interested in feedback on the new Reef Coco Beach Club in PDC which is apparently now open. We are looking at booking this resort but since it is new would appreciate some feedback.
Thank you.

Based on the grounds, service and food, this was not a

5 star hotel as advertised, but a 3 star at best.

- Bad Service at frontdesk and at the grill. Carmen was

unfriendly and not helpful. The man at the grill was not

helpful to children or women (but when a man walked

up, was eager to assist).

- Childcare was lacking. Only a few hours a day

coverage. No dinner or evening coverage. Not much

for the kids to do in the room. The playstructure is a

safety hazard (too many swings too close together).

- Rooms were subpar. Broken pipes; leaking air

conditioners; no phones; no clocks; limited TV

selections; first, no water at all, then no hot water.

- Housekeeping. Enters w/out knocking. Not leaving

enough towels for the people in the room. No chain on

doors to keep them out.

- Front desk: can't tell time. Wrong times for wakeup

calls. Didn't have the basic supplies (paper, bandaids,

etc..) Just not pleasant.

- The "family" show they gave was x-rated with

children in the audience... simulated sex acts on stage.

- Leaking roof in the "nice" restaurant. They offered

me an umbrella.

- Road to Hotel not finished yet.

- The food was ok...not good or great in any of the

eateries.

- The pool was ok... didn't have any special features to

"write home about".

- The beach was nice. But while there were wave

runners on the beach (and we saw them using them)

they weren't "available".

- While the travel agency said there was a hospitality

room to use (after checkout, before leaving for the

airport); the frontdesk was not happy about people

using it. Additionally... it wasn't all that clean.

- Watched them take dirty pool towels from people,

fold them and give them out to new people (YUCK).

I just returned from The Ree Club Coco Beach, and must say that I had a good time. The staff was very helpful, although, I must say that I agree that Carmen (reception) was less than helpful, and almost downright rude. The entertainment staff were very friendly , helpful, and definitely made the experience most enjoyable. Gaby, who sets up all the tours, was wonderful, and I enjoyed my tour to La Isla Mujeres. The food could have been labeled, as it would have been nice to know what I was eating, and they were a little heavy on the salt at times!! The only glitch that was a little inconvenient was al the keys having to be reprogrammed, at one point.

As with any new hotel, they definitely have to work out their kinks, but all in all it was a wonderful experience!

My boyfriend and I have booked a vacation for the last week of March at this hotel. When looking through the brochures it looked incredible, but after reading all the comments I am now leary to say the least. I have concerns about the food, rooms, pool, and the proximity to PDC the actual town. After spending the incredible amount of money that you do for a vacation, I expect to get my money's worth......terrified

we just got back from 2 weeks at the reef coco beach and highly recommed it. traveled with 3 kids and all were independent, able to eat delicious food, and staff was exceptional -- clean and friendly. nice part of the beach too, not in with all the other resorts so on sunday especially, you see the true mexico on the beach as all the locals arrive with coolers to hang and relax and play soccer which my boys joined in. safe and pleasant.20 minute walk to town. will return

Hello...

My husband and I (along with our 4 year old daughter and 9 year old son) will be heading to the Reef Coco Beach on Sept 4/04. Has anyone been there recently who can give us a heads up on if there is still construction which wakes you at 5.30am?? if I want to wake up at 5.30am I might as well stay home and go to work.

Also is the Mini Club (Kids Club) still only open for minimum hours as my 4 year old loves it. We went to the ROYAL SOLARIS in Cancun a few months ago and there mini club was open almost all day, with many activities for the kids to do. By the way on a good note about the ROYAL SOLARIS its an amazing hotel with great food and wonderful entertainment staff. Everything about it was awesome. Except for the water being to wavy at the beach.

If anyone needs any info on this hotel feel free to e-mail me.
