Cancun in January

Postby John495 on Fri Aug 12, 2005 8:26 pm

Me and a couple of guys are going to Cancun in January. Never been. Just wondering if it was going to be a good time to party and have a great time to kick back and drink a couple? If someone had some info that would be great. Thanks.

John,

January in Cancun and The Caribbean in general is high season. So there should be lots of people having a good time.

If you are looking for more of party and nightlife scene then you and your friends made a good choice in Cancun!

Don't forget though there are plenty of things to do in Cancun besides party away...! Charter a fishing boat for the day. Rent a car and drive to to Playa del Carmen for the day - great beaches and a unique town. Go scuba diving or take a lesson. Mayan ruins. Visit a cenote - an undergound freshwater cavern/cave and go snorkeling.

Have a great trip!

Well this is rather subjective...! I have traveled to Mexico on $50 a day - Down in Tulum in an open air bungalow. And I have also stayed at high end hotels and resorts for a few hundred a night.

Because you are staying in all inclusive I will assume most of your expenses will be covered. But you will need some cash if you leave the resort and head into town. (Don't forget to tip the maid a couple of bucks a day!!!)

Plan on spending about the same as you would in the "average" american bar - I.E. Not New York City prices. A couple of bucks for a beer. $3-5 for a big ole mixed/tropical drink.

As for other spending money...that depends on your budget and what you like to do. I usually take more money that I actually need - in travelers checks. I hate running out! That being said there are ATMs where you withdraw cash from your checking account if you get low.
