bachata music from republica dominicana

Postby ctzielinski on Mon Jun 19, 2006 5:43 am

Hi i have two questions about the bachata music, there is a certain group in republica dominicana called "grupo optimo" or "optimo". They have a song called "Te va mal". I really like this song but cannot buy or download it anywhere. Is there a way i can obtain their music?

Another question i have is if it is true that "bachata" music is originally from the republica dominicana? Is the republica dominicana the place to be to celebrate a holiday if you really like bachata?

regards,

Chris.

that would be really cool! i would be very happy.
I am willing to pay for the music, i would love to use the bachata song for Salsa/bachata party's here in the Netherlands. I am REALLY sure this song would get very popular here.

regards,

chris.

ctzielinski,

The bachata as we know it today it's very Dominican but you must know that the true origin of it ar the Guitar trios heard once in Colombia or Ecuador.

Actually in Colombia it evoluated to be the Vallenato today. Lots of bachatas are heard (Lyrics) with the Vallenato's rythm in colombia and therefore written by Colombian song writers.

Cheers

Alain

Bachata music from republica dominicana

Postby Candy on Fri Aug 15, 2008 1:06 pm

This music is originally from Dominican Republic, perhaps the instruments are not orginally from the country. This type of music has really emotive lyrics, and the rythm is a little bit slow. Some of the popular artists of bachata are: Anthony Santos, Frank Reyes, Zacarias Ferrerias. There's a group called Aventura, that is followed around the world by young people, because is a little bit different that the regular bachata, it is a fusion of bachata and r&b/pop, so the rythm is not that slow, and most of the lyrics of their songs are based on reall stories, stuff that happens in the real world.

Long time ago bachata music was just not more than urban music listened by poor people because rich people thought that it was too disgusting for them, but now do rich people listen to it as well do the poors.

I recomended to you that if you want to have a nice vacation and dance a lot of bachata you should go to Dominican Republic.
