More Info: Nettie Symonette is a native Bahamian, born on the island of Eleuthera. Nettie's Different of Abaco Ecotourism Resort is the result of her dreams and a lot of hard work. With years of hotelier experience behind her, Nettie acquired 635 acres of Crown land, locally perceived as primarily swamp and waste land, and created what is known today as "one of the most unique Ecotourism resorts in the Caribbean." -Wild Bird Magazine. Caribbean Travel and Life magazine says "Nettie's Different of Abaco is the best kept secret in the Caribbean." This visionary ongoing project was created without commercial financing and to the astonishment of many who said it couldn't be done.
She has won many other awards of distinction, among them: Most Outstanding Woman in Business (1988), Bahamas Who's Who Society Hospitality Hall of Fame Award (1990) and Silver Jubilee Award (1998).
Come share Nettie's vision. CNN Travel did and found it to be " A little piece of Heaven." Indulge yourself and enjoy an extraordinary Bahamian experience.
Nearby Attractions: Beachcomb and find beautiful sea, sand and sun. Wander trails to find rare birds and native plants. Bonefish with top local guides, snorkel in nearby reefs. Treat yourself to an outdoor massage or spa treatment, explore the gardens, and sun on the pool/jacuzzi decks. Refresh lakeside with a cool island drink and try out the fine art of hammocking. Escape to our natural paradise hideaway, because whichever activities you indulge in, you will be sure to feel at home with a distinctive Nettie twist.
Amenities: Our goal is to host guests in a comfortable, delightfully unique resort with an emphasis on bonefishing, birding and ecology, massage and spa amenities, snorkeling, Bahamian cuisine, and, of course, relaxation.

Caribbean Travel Tip Preparation for Your Trip Start Early. If a passport is required for you to enter the country where you are planning to travel, apply for it as soon as possible.
Learn about the countries you plan to visit. Before departing, read up on the culture and people for the places you will travel.
As you travel, keep abreast of local news coverage. If you are in an area experiencing civil unrest or a natural disaster, if you will be staying more than two weeks in an area, or if you are going to a place where communications are poor, you are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Registration takes only a few moments, and it may be invaluable in case of an emergency. Remember to leave a detailed itinerary and the numbers of your passport or other citizenship documents with a friend or relative in the United States.
For up-to-date travel information on any country in the world that you plan to visit, obtain the Department of State's Consular Information Sheet. This covers topics such as entry regulations, the crime and security situation, drug penalties, and location of the nearest U.S. embassy, consulate or consular agency.
The Department also issues Travel Warnings and Public Announcements. A Travel Warning advises travelers not to go to a country because of dangerous conditions and/or U.S. government's ability to assist a U.S. citizen in distress there is severely limited. A Public Announcement is issued as a means to disseminate information quickly about relatively short-term and/or trans-national conditions which would pose significant risks to the security of American travelers.
