Bimini Beach Club
Bimini Sands Bahamas luxury one and two bedroom hotel rooms affordably priced from $120. Fresh-water swimming pool, secluded sandy beach, and much more.
|
More Info: Constructed in the mid 50's as the home of Col. Joe Mackey, owner of Mackey Airlines which later became part of Eastern Airlines, the Beach Club is a historical landmark on South Bimini. Located at the extreme Southwestern tip of South Bimini a 270 degree panoramic view of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Bahamas flats awaits the visitor. To the South is Rabbit Cay, South Rabbit Cay and Round Rock. In the 60's Col. Mackey relinquished his home to expansion including the construction of a large restaurant and bar and a 40 room hotel located on the Western edge of the Island directly overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Formerly called the Sunshine Inn and later the Bimini Reef Club, Bimini Beach Club and now the Bimini Sands Beach Club this unique property has attracted thousands of guests because of it's natural beauty. As the property changed ownership over the years limited improvements were made to the facilities only to deteriorate as the various owners abandoned their dream of restoring the property. In December 1999 the owners of Bimini Sands purchased the Beach Club and set forth on a comprehensive remodel plan for the Hotel and the supporting facilities. Included in the renovations were a complete reconstruction of the 40 hotel rooms including the installation of new plumbing, electric, floor and ceiling tile, central air conditioning, new roof, and wooden balcony. The 90,000 gallon pool has been resurfaced and new filtration equipment installed to return the pool to pristine fresh water status. Currently, central air is being installed in the restaurant and bar that will complete the facilities work. The Marina is being expanded to accommodate boats up to 90 feet long with 50 slips having 30/50 amp service and fresh water at the dock. Managements goal is to maintain the ambiance of this unique property keeping it as a laid back island resort with all the modern conveniences that our customers have come to expect. In the future, rental cottages will be constructed on the road accessing the Beach Club to allow alternative housing for our visitors.

Caribbean Travel Tip Safety Tips Crime Information. Most visitors to the Caribbean have a relatively safe trip. However, thievery, purse snatching, and pick pocketing do happen, particularly in cities and at beaches. There has also been an increase in violent crimes, such as rape and assault against tourists. In some places, U.S. passports and identity documents are especially attractive to thieves. Robbery of yachts is a problem in some marinas.
Here are some precautions to keep in mind:
-- Safety begins when you pack. Leave expensive jewelry, unnecessary credit cards, and anything you would hate to lose at home.
-- Use a concealed money pouch or belt for passports, cash, and other valuables.
-- To facilitate replacing a lost or stolen passport, carry two extra passport photos and a photocopy of your passport information page and other identity documents with you in a separate place from those items.
-- Do not take valuables to the beach. When possible, use the hotel safe when you go to the beach or into town.
-- When you enter a marina, register with the local government authorities.
