Aibonito - Romantic Mountain Villa Recommended By New York Times
Nestled in the central mountains in south central Puerto Rico, the town of Aibonito enjoys the mildest climate on the island. Aibonito, a picturesque town of 28,000 people, provides a gamut of services, including an esteemed community hospital, several supermarkets (one featuring a well-stocked wine cellar), several local bakeries, restaurants, banks, etc.

More Info: It is in these gentle hills of Aibonito, referred to locally as the "Garden of Puerto Rico", that Posada El Tamarindo is located. As its central location makes it a comfortable driving distance from any point on the island, it is a perfect home base from which to explore Puerto Rico.
This "joya campesina" (country jewel) sits atop a hill on fourteen acres of land, providing privacy, tranquillity and spectacular views of the Puerto Rican countryside. It's a great romantic getaway, and also an ideal retreat for writers and artists looking for an inspiring setting.
This charming little country house has been transformed, preserving its modest simplicity and authentic atmosphere while providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. The three structure complex is about ten minutes from the town of Aibonito. The main house, although small, provides a comfortable living space with a full kitchen, a bedroom, living room area, an office/gym, terrace/dining room and a full bathroom. A few yards in back and down a small slope is the other main structure, a bungalow master bedroom, with an ample terrace, a small bathroom and an outside private shower. Also part of the complex is a separate laundry room and an outside sundeck.

Nearby Attractions: A notable restaurant in Aibonito is La Piedra, serving gourmet Puerto Rican and continental cuisine (featuring an extensive wine list) in an informal, yet attentive setting, with a panoramic view of Aibonito and the surrounding mountains.Located between Aibonito and Barranquitas is the Cañon de San Cristobal (San Cristobal Canyon), a deep, picturesque canyon managed by the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust, visible from Car. 162 as it winds towards Barranquitas, but best appreciated on foot. Guided hikes down the canyon can be arranged. In the adjacent town to the south (20 minutes down the mountains), Coamo, you can visit world famous hot springs at the Parador Baños de Coamo. A new golf course is located adjacent to the Parador. To the southeast in Arroyo (40 minutes away) is a beautiful and tranquil Caribbean beach, with minimal waves (good for swimming and wading, but not surfing).
