Villa Poincianna
Large, new, private house on the Sea. 2 bedrooms with A/C, upper level with breathtaking view, ice maker and lots more amenities. Private and secluded, yet close to all the local fun.
|
More Info: If you’ve ever dreamed of a private island getaway for your personal or family vacation, or for your honeymoon or special anniversary, you’ve found it at Villa Poincianna!
You'll enjoy our beautiful, air conditioned, fully furnished oceanfront house, 50 feet from the seashore, nestled in a lush, tropical forest preserve – no cars, no roads - just the ultimate in total privacy and relaxation … that’s Villa Poincianna.
Villa Poincianna provides all the comfort and privacy you could dream of, only a few minutes from local restaurants, shopping & night-life, and some of the best snorkeling, diving & fishing the sea has to offer. The Villa is a lovely new house on the lush, 300 acre tropical island of Lubber's Quarters Cay (pronounced "key") in the Northern Bahamas island chain known as the Abacos.
The Villa is only 50 feet from shore, secluded in woods, so you don’t have far to walk to the shore or your dock and boat. This helps assure a regular cool breeze from the sea. And it’s surrounded by a dense forest preserve, so you’ll have all the privacy you could want.
The view is spectacular! It is said to be one of the best views (and cool tropical breezes!) in the area. From the upper floor inside or upper deck outside, you stand just above the tree-tops. From there you can see many miles around you. And because the Villa presents an eastern view between two outer islands, we get a regular ocean breeze, wonderful sun rises, and truly spectacular views for many miles around the surrounding area. Our location is special – come share it with us.
You won't find any tourist shops or cars on the island, just a few private homes, nearby beaches and easy access to world-class snorkeling, diving and fishing.
Villa Poincianna is only 20 minutes from world-class snorkeling or diving. And you're only a short boat ride from some of the best ocean fishing you'll find anywhere.
Nearby Attractions: The northern Bahamas are encircled by the third longest barrier reef in the world. Within this paradise, the waters around Villa Poincianna are filled with many miles of spectacular corals mounds, caves and walls. All the best areas are in less than 50 feet of water, some even reaching up to the water's surface, so beginner divers and snorkelers are easily able to share the absolute best the underwater world has to offer.
Two protected Bahamian Underwater Preserves are only 3 miles to the north or south of the Villa, providing some of the best snorkeling or diving in the world - only a few minutes away.
Fishing Some of the best fishing in the world is enjoyed in the Abacos. World famous tournaments are held in spring and fall throughout the area. You can catch a wide variety of big-game fish, and many are great to take back to Poincianna and eat. Depending on how you do, you may not have to buy food all week!
You can catch dinner any time. Season and catch limits do exist so check with local authorities or visit Friends of the Environment for fishing and conservation information.
It’s often a good idea to hire a local fishing guide, at least for your first trip, and many very experienced guides are available. You can check with the locals and bulletin boards for advice and contacts. And a special note – please follow the local rules and please conserve our local resources – the fish are truly plentiful, but they may not be forever without our care. Also, some boat rental companies have restrictions about taking your rented boat into the open ocean in some areas, so please inquire with your rental company and follow their rules – they have lots of experience and create the rules for your safety.
Amenities: The Villa is a beautiful, new, fully furnished house with: 1200 square feet of living space, indoor and outdoor showers, a complete kitchen with a large refrigerator/ice maker, blender, coffee & espresso makers and a microwave, CD/tape/radio stereo, TV/VCR/Satellite dish, 2 large bedrooms with queen size beds & large closets, a barbecue, an iron and ironing board, and many other amenities you would expect from a world-class vacation house. And, the Villa has 120 volt electricity. There are ceiling fans in every room and air conditioners in the bedrooms.
The house has other special features, including fully tiled floors and counters to keep everything comfortably cool, a beautiful cypress interior and hand-crafted cabinets.
Villa Poincianna is a fully insulated house, so it stays comfortably cool year round. In addition, glass windows will let you relax indoors and get lots of daylight even on the occasional rainy days. You’ll love the elegant, yet distinctly Caribbean style and decor.
