Green Turtle Club and Marina
Romantic luxury resort hotel on exotic Green Turtle Cay, featured on Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous.
|
More Info: The Green Turtle Club and Marina is centrally located on the tiny 3-mile long island of Green Turtle Cay and is a short golf cart commute from the village of New Plymouth, home to just over 500 persons, most of whom can trace their ancestral roots to the Revolutionary War Loyalists who first settled the island.
The fascinating history of New Plymouth can be traced at the Albert Lowe Museum which offers photographs dating back to the turn of the century as well as ship models of the Abaco sailing vessels, some of which were used as blockade runners during the Civil War.
The village offers a variety of galleries, restaurants and shops where gold jewelry manufactured in Abaco and beautiful Bahamian art work are among some of the treasures that can be purchased. New Plymouth is home to the Bahamas Premier artist, Alton Lowe, who opens his private museum to the public periodically during the year.
Nearby Attractions: Located on an island measuring just 3 miles in length and less than 1/2 mile in width, the Green Turtle Club is surrounded by crystal clear ocean waters with some of the most spectacular beaches in the world and is the only resort within an easy walk (less than 10 minutes) from the breathtaking beaches on the Atlantic side of the Cay.
The spectacular Ocean Beach runs the entire 3 mile length of Green Turtle Cay and is just a 7 to 10 minute walk from the main Club Complex. It is a favorite for beachcombers in search of tropical shells and driftwood. A continuous coral reef provides for excellent snorkeling.
Amenities: Superior Deluxe Rooms "Some of the most handsomely appointed rooms in all the Out Islands - with their mahogany Queen Anne style furniture, gleaming hardwood floors, Oriental rugs, and tasteful coral or indigo-and-white print spreads." Fodor's Bahamas 2002 Guide
Superior Deluxe Rooms are equipped with television/vcr units, hair dryers, tea kettles, tropical paddle fans, and air conditioning. An extensive complimentary video library including children's videos is available. Each room has a private patio with a view of the harbour. Deluxe Rooms are individually decorated with a tropical decor and equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, and pine decks for sunbathing. Deluxe Rooms are built out over the harbour's edge at Turtle Point. Popular with boating enthusiasts, small boat dockage is available just outside the door.
Villas are triplexes built out over the harbour at Turtle Point and consist of two deluxe rooms and a separate center unit. The Villas center units are comprised of a living/dining area with kitchenette.

Caribbean Travel Tip Driving in the Caribbean If you plan to rent a car, be aware that most jurisdictions of the Caribbean drive on the left. The only places where you drive on the right are Aruba, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique, and the Netherlands Antilles. In other places, if you are not used to driving on the left, proceed slowly and with utmost caution. You may wish to ride as a passenger for a while before trying to drive yourself.
Driving conditions and local driving patterns are different from the U.S. Many roads are narrow or winding, signs may not be in English, and in some places, domestic animals roam freely. Defensive driving is a must.
