Site Information:
Kura Hulanda
Hotel Kurá Hulanda is a 80-room luxury boutique resort located within a village complex known as Project Kurá Hulanda an initiative of Jacob Gelt Dekker.
|
More Info: 80 outstanding guestrooms marry historic luxury with 21st century necessities. Furnishings are extraordinarily unique - hand-carved mahogany and teak, antiques and superb replicas and hand-woven linens from India. Delicately woven mosquito netting drapes four-poster beds providing comfort and romance. Each room features one-of-a-kind hand-painted walls by local artisans.
Beautifully carved and specifically designed standing mirrors, hand-carved bars, hanging mirrors and beds from Indonesia make a visual design connection between the guest rooms but varying patterns, colors and fabrics ensure that no two are identical.
The Indian Bridal suite will inspire couples to get married again and again just to experience this lush sterling silver surrounding. The handcrafted furniture is made of hammered sterling silver including the headboard, night tables, chairs and dressing table. Truly a suite fit for a Maharajah and Maharani.
Underground infrastructure has been installed and includes phone lines and a water system (to provide strong pressure in showers). Generators have been installed for electrical backup and will switch over and turn on in a matter of seconds should the need arise.
A sophisticated sound system (comprised of 10 zones) installed on the grounds of the hotel permits each of the courtyard areas to be suffused with music specific to the mood of the courtyard. Similar to a DMX system, the music arrives via direct satellite and is produced through built-in micro speakers.
An unobtrusive security system (manufactured in Holland) has been installed. More than 80 mini cameras are connected to a computer where the images are recorded onto a hard drive 24 hours a day.
This historic and environmental preservation project is funded by the Jade Foundation, which was established by Jacob Gelt Dekker and John Padget. Within this village complex are several outstanding properties in addition to the hotel, which comprise the project that spans 8-blocks. These properties include a 21st century conference center, the Museum Kurá Hulanda (a world-acclaimed anthropological museum) and the Jacob Gelt Dekker Institute (a widely respected organization for advanced cultural studies).
Nearby Attractions: A modern fitness center overlooking the Eco Pond Pool has been created to satisfy your exercise needs. The latest cardiovascular equipment with "cardio theater" and a fully equipped weight room is at your disposal. Personal trainers are available upon request. Situated on the second floor above the fitness center is the Hotel Kurá Hulanda spa with the most up-to-date facilities, four treatment rooms and more. Massages, manicures, pedicures and other treatments are available. Beach Hotel Kurá Hulanda’s beach club is a quick eight-minute ride from the hotel by complimentary transportation. The setting is an intimate white sand beach, perfect for a stroll or sunbathing. A natural rock formation encircles a calm bay with crystal clear Caribbean waters leading out in the ocean. The water is perfect for snorkeling or one can relax on a chaise under an umbrella. A nearby pavilion houses a shower and restrooms. Snacks and beverages are just a phone call away.
Golf Preferencial treatment and transportation to the nearby 18-hole par 72 Rocky Roquemore Golf Course helps one make an early tee time. Lushly landscaped this golf course has magnificent views of the sea, a lagoon and more --just don't take your eye off the ball.

Caribbean Travel Tip Residence or Investments in the Caribbean You will need a passport and visas to reside in or to conduct or start a business in the Caribbean. Although some Caribbean countries welcome retirees or others of independent means as long-term residents, requests for work permits are rarely granted. Before you travel, apply to the country's embassy or consulate in the United States to obtain a visa if you wish to reside, go into business, or work in the country.
U.S. citizens who wish to invest in the Caribbean, such as in real estate or a business, should first thoroughly investigate the company making the offer and, in addition, learn about the investment climate in the country. A good resource is the Trade Information Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce, telephone 1-800-USA-TRADE. The Center can tell you how to access the National Trade Data Bank. Among the things you can learn are how to find out if the company is registered with local authorities and how to get in touch with local trade associations. Before signing a contract for a timeshare or other real estate, you may wish to consult with a lawyer. You will need to check whether the contract contains the same safeguards as do similar contracts in the U.S., such as the retention of timeshare rights if the property is sold. You should also determine whether the builder or seller has a clear title.
