Chenay Bay Beach Resort
Fifty West Indian style cottages set on 30 acres of former sugar plantation ...clustered around a white sand beach and nature preserve.
|
More Info: Each cottage has it's own front porch, all within a minutes walk to the Caribbean Sea! Connecting cottages are available for families or groups traveling together. Choose from oceanfront, ocean view, or garden view locations.
Located on the best sand beach on the North Shore of St. Croix, our resort is nestled on a green hillside overlooking the blue Caribbean Sea. Chenay Bay, named after a French sea Captain, is protected by Green Cay National Wildlife Preserve, a small island a mile off our shore. Our quiet natural environment is further enhanced by the lush tropical landscape. Bougainvillea and hibiscus are in continuous bloom and while the coconut palms and seagrapes offer shade, the genips are ripe for picking and eating. Our thirty acre resort is located only three miles from historic Christiansted town on East End Road, Route 82, close enough to go to town anytime but far enough away for peace and quiet.
Significant historic ruins including a windmill, well, horse trough and the wall of a lime kiln stand throughout the property as a reminder to the islands' past. The resorts sits on "Estate Green Cay", the grounds of the former "Hellin" sugar plantation dating to 1811.

Caribbean Travel Tip Ocean Undercurrents If you get sucked out into the ocean by an undercurrent follow these instructions:
Do not panic, save all your strength.
Act immediately. Swim parallel to the shoreline. Even if you cannot, keep trying until you can.
What you are doing is swimming out of the undertow and into the current that will more than likely push you back to shore. Remember, in saltwater you float so you can stay alive for any number of days. Unless you are on a secluded beach a boat will reach you in time to rescue you should you fail to not be able to swim out of the undertow.
