Site Information:
Biras Creek Resort
An exclusive resort for less than 60 guests at a time on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.
|
More Info: Biras Creek is located on a strip of land between two hills on a 140 acre peninsula. It can only be reached by boat. The property touches three distinct bodies of water: the enormous protected lagoon of North Sound, the open Atlantic Ocean, and a Caribbean bay -- a paradise for swimming, sailing, and snorkeling, at the edge of the resort's private white sand beach. Twenty oceanside suites are scattered along Berchers Bay on the Atlantic shore, plus eight suites through the landscaped garden. Two Grand Suites have panoramic windows facing the sea, oversized terraces, and free standing bathtubs with separate large showers. An oceanside Premier Suite has a magnificent living room separating two spacious bedrooms each with a large bathroom/dressing area and a private porch overlooking the seashore.
Nearby Attractions: You can lie in the sun and swim in Deep Bay, or enjoy our non-motorized water toys -- Hobie Cats, Sunfish, Lasers, Windsurfers and Sea Kayaks. A water-sports instructor is available for free lessons.
Masks, fins and snorkel gear are available for guests to use during their stay and can be picked up at the Marina Village near the Fat Virgin Gift Shop. Simply return them before your departure. SWIMMING POOL The pool literally abuts the waves of the open sea on Bercher's Bay and is for resident guests’ exclusive use.
TELEVISION AND FILMS Satellite television with CNN and BBC News are available in the Arawak room, plus a large selection of DVDs. TENNIS
There are two floodlit Omni tennis courts available for complimentary guest use. Reservations, balls and rackets to use during your stay are available from reception. WATERSPORTS INSTRUCTION & EQUIPMENT
We have complimentary Kayaks, Sunfish, Lasers, Hobie Waves and windsurfers available for your use at Deep Bay. The General Assistants are on the beach from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to give free sailing and windsurfing lessons. If you are an experienced sailor, you may enjoy a few hours in our 26’ Folkboats (with or without an instructor), which are moored in the North Sound. In addition to our many complimentary activities, we can arrange for you to scuba dive, explore Virgin Gorda, take a day sail or day trip to Jost Van Dyke, Anegada, or Tortola, plus many other optional activities. These are available at extra charge; our office or General Assistants will be glad to make reservations in advance for you. The hills, either side of the resort, are criss-crossed with hiking trails, all with dramatic views and incredible flora and fauna. There is a snooker room with a full-size table. All guests are given their own bicycle for exploring our spacious property. BEACHES The beach at Berchers Bay (adjacent to the ocean and garden suites) is perfect for walking, reading and sunbathing. Our beautiful sheltered beach is located at Deep Bay, a short walk or bicycle ride from your cottage. BICYCLES & BIKING Two bicycles are placed outside your cottage for use during your stay at Biras Creek. Please note that we drive or ride on the left in the British Virgin Islands. Each bicycle has a room number on the tag behind the seat so you can easily identify yours. GARDEN WALK Guardian of our tropical paradise is Alvin Harrigan, our head gardener. His weekly walks will inform and delight you as he describes the landscape and plants using their native names. He willingly spends additional time with the guests who want to learn more about the plants and their care. Alvin will meet you in the Arawak room at 10:00 am on Monday morning for a tour through Biras Creek's lovely gardens. NATURE WALKS & HIKING There are some wonderful walks in the hills surrounding the hotel. We ensure that the trails are well marked and kept clear so you may enjoy them at all times of the year. Click here to see a map of the estate, with trails clearly marked.
You will probably see several iguanas along the way. Three rather large ones have become our mascots and are named Hubertus, Willimina, and Godzilla. Here's one of them happily accepting a flower to snack on. SCUBA Introductory Scuba Sessions are offered once a week. Lessons will be held poolside followed by a shallow water dive. SNORKELING We provide complimentary Guided Snorkeling trips several times a week and also have a fleet of Boston Whalers for our guests, each capable of taking up to three adults on exploratory trips around the protected waters of the Sound.

Caribbean Travel Tip Entry and Exit Requirements Entering: Every island in the Caribbean has its own entry requirements. Most countries allow you to visit for up to two or three months if you show proof of U.S. citizenship and a return or onward ticket. Some countries, however, require that you have a valid passport. If you are arriving from an area infected with yellow fever, many Caribbean countries require you to have a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Some countries have an airport departure tax of up to $25. For authoritative information on a country's entry and exit requirements and on its customs and currency regulations, contact its embassy, consulate, or tourist office in the United States.
Returning - Caution! Make certain that you can return to the United States with the proof of citizenship that you take with you. Although some Caribbean countries may allow you to enter with only a birth certificate, U.S. Immigration requires that you document both your U.S. citizenship and identity when you reenter the United States.
The best document to prove your U.S. citizenship is a valid U.S. passport. Other documents of U.S. citizenship include an expired U.S. passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate, a Certificate of Naturalization , a Certificate of Citizenship , or a Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen.
To prove your identity, either a valid driver's license or a government identification card that includes a photo or a physical description is acceptable.
If you lose or have your U.S. passport stolen while overseas, report it immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. A lost or stolen birth certificate or driver's license cannot be replaced outside the United States. There are several countries, most notably Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, and Jamaica, where airlines have consistently refused to board American citizens with insufficient proof of U.S. citizenship. The resulting delays can be inconvenient as well as expensive.
