Palmas is located on the southeast coast of Puerto Rico approximately 45 miles from San Juan, Puerto Rico's capital and largest city. Unique among Puerto Rico residential-resort communities, Palmas has over six miles of Caribbean Sea frontage, including approximately three miles of continuous sand beach. The balance of the water frontage consists of secluded beaches and rocky promontories, offering unparalleled views and settings. In addition, the inland portion of Palmas provides a variety of topographical contours providing for an extensive variety of land use patterns ranging from custom hillside residences to clustered housing developments fronting golf courses or other recreational amenities.
Originally developed in the early 1970's by noted resort developer Charles Fraser, Palmas today benefits from that initial as well as subsequent infrastructure investments. These investments, which would require over $400 million in today's dollars to replicate, have created a superior network of roads, water, sewer, electric, telephone and cable television services as well as its own modern wastewater treatment plant.

Precaution Drugs
Take extra precautions. In your carry-on luggage bring an extra pair of eyeglasses or contact lenses and enough of any medication you take to last the entire trip. You may also want your doctor to write a spare prescription using the drug's generic name, since brand names may vary from country to country. Never put prescription drugs or valuables in luggage to be checked. To avoid customs delays, carry medications in their original packaging. And don't forget to copy down and carry addresses of offices that handle refunds of lost traveler's checks.
