More Info: Unlike a conventional hotel, accommodations are not just a room with a numbers. Each is a separate bungalow with colorful names: Cabaña India, Laja, Playa, Piedra, Coral and Mexicali. Interiors are rustic, constructed with wood, bamboo, stone coral tiles and with seductive lighting akin to cinematography. Most of the palapas have kitchenettes. All have mini-frigs including the newest, second-story, Casa Laja, with walls of laja stone.
Environmentally sensitive, much of the furniture is handcrafted from bamboo and coco palms that were cut to make way for the gardens and walkways. Here guests duermen con los ángeles.(sleep with the angels), lulled by the sounds of the sea and the whir of the overhead fan petals. With the ocean breezes there is no need for air conditioning.
Nearby Attractions: You will want to explore our physically beautiful island. You can rent a jeep, four wheel-drive vehicles or a mountain bike from us and do it your way. Tours and excursions are available to help discover this island. Or our staff can plan day trips to Jarabacoa, wistfully named the Dominican Alps, or to a nearby water theme park.
We believe, also, that through sports one learns about a country. Horseback ride through valleys and small Dominican villages. Follow a creek and then dismount and jump into giant tubes and ride the river.
We invite you to try the new water sport of the millennium-kite surfing. Cabarete Beach is the windsurfing destination of the Caribbean. Here the Atlantic Ocean surf is almost always up and we're happy to arrange for you to get up on a board. Scuba diving in Sosua Bay, with its coral reef, is renown, and golfers are thrilled to play the acclaimed oceanfront golf courses in the area.......and don't forget our Hatha yoga lessons.

How to Make Authentic Mexican Cerviche - Playa del Carmen First let me explain why I call it authentic Mexican cerviche. I lived in the Yucatan Peninsula over 20 years ago at the beginning of the birth of Cancun. I worked on boats every day and learned to make Mexican food dishes from the natives I worked with.

Paamul - A Hidden Jem along the Riviera Maya - Playa del Carmen Just south of Playa del Carmen is Paamul, a great place for campers with some RV amenities and installations. Stingray City - About Stingrays - Cayman Islands Learn more about stingrays ... For centuries, these mysterious animals in the sea have been unnecessarily feared by man. This misconception of rays being dangerous fish was caused by a lack of understanding of their anatomy.

Caribbean Travel Tip Jungle & Rainforest Treking If you plan to walk into the jungle make sure you know what you are doing. Carry a GPS and know how to use it. A compass will help the experienced explorer but if you just bought it and expect to enter the jungle and knock about then you may find yourself in deep trouble.
If you have to venture into the bush then please follow these instructions:
- Tell somebody where you are going.
- Bring lots of water.
- Make sure your compass works.
- Mark your trail.
- Be visually aware and remember landmarks.
- Check to see where the sun is when you enter the bush then check your watch to see what time it is, make regular checks to orient yourself to the movement of the sun.
