The Wyndham Sapphire Beach Club, Hotel & Resort - Cupecoy, St. Maarten offers elegant rooms decorated in Caribbean-style, complete with private balconies giving amazing views of the Caribbean Sea or the Simpson Bay Lagoon. All rooms with ocean views have a Jacuzzi on the balcony, while each luxurious villa and penthouse is equipped with its own swimming pool with views of the sparkling waters of the Caribbean. Mullet Bay
Located close to the hotel; the bay boasts a beautiful beach and is ideal for walks and exercise.
The Mullet Bay Golf Course
The Caribbean has some of the best and most challenging golf courses and organizes numerous international and local matches. The 18-hole golf course in Phillipsburg on Dutch St. Marteen is a challenging field designed by Joseph Lee, and is the only golf course on the island.
Old Street Mall
Don't forget to take a walk down Old Street, an attractive mall, whose small stores include Colombian Emeralds, Beach Stuff, Tommy Hilfiger and Dalila (stylish batiks from Bali). The retailers in Wathey Square sell local souvenirs including sculptures and paintings.
Orient Bay
Orient Bay is a large, festive beach with clothing optional areas. Topless sunbathing is common in the French part. Although the beaches are exceptional the diving and snorkeling is not particularly good.
Parrot Jungle
Parrot Jungle, located opposite the Sapphire Club in Cupecoy offers ample entertainment opportunities for children and parents. More than 200 birds, most of them brightly colored parrots, delight visitor with their antics. Parrot Jungle is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am until midday.
Royal Casino
The Casino Royale is the largest casino on the island and is four miles from the hotel. The casino is open from 1:00 pm up to 4:00 am daily, throughout the year. Casino Royale has table limits of US$ 5 to US$ 2000 for blackjack and US$ 5 to US$ 500 for craps.

St. Maarten Museum
Located in Philipsburg, in an old house from the 1800s, this small museum covers the culture and history of the island.
University of St. Maarten
The university campus is located in the Dutch part of the island in the heart of Philipsburg. Unfortunately, the facilities at the campus were seriously damaged by hurricane Lenny. Presently, reconstruction work is being carried out; resulting in a campus equipped with the latest technological advances, air-conditioned classrooms, sciences and language laboratories, assembly areas for students and computer science laboratories with 24-hour Internet access. Until the reconstruction is complete classes are held at a local secondary school.
St. Maarten Zoo
The St. Maarten Zoo is one of the most unique in the United States. It houses some 200 animals; all of them tropical and several of them very rare. Home to about 60 exotic mammals, birds, reptiles and more, the St. Maarten Zoo is the ‘biggest little zoo' in the Caribbean. There is also a play area for children.
The Lowlands
Located only three miles from the hotel, this area is an exclusive residential enclave. The many villas and mansions can be viewed from both sea and land.

Residence or Investments in the Caribbean
You will need a passport and visas to reside in or to conduct or start a business in the Caribbean. Although some Caribbean countries welcome retirees or others of independent means as long-term residents, requests for work permits are rarely granted. Before you travel, apply to the country's embassy or consulate in the United States to obtain a visa if you wish to reside, go into business, or work in the country.
U.S. citizens who wish to invest in the Caribbean, such as in real estate or a business, should first thoroughly investigate the company making the offer and, in addition, learn about the investment climate in the country. A good resource is the Trade Information Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce, telephone 1-800-USA-TRADE. The Center can tell you how to access the National Trade Data Bank. Among the things you can learn are how to find out if the company is registered with local authorities and how to get in touch with local trade associations. Before signing a contract for a timeshare or other real estate, you may wish to consult with a lawyer. You will need to check whether the contract contains the same safeguards as do similar contracts in the U.S., such as the retention of timeshare rights if the property is sold. You should also determine whether the builder or seller has a clear title.
