HOW TO GET HERE Elbow Cay is a beautiful island 20 minutes by ferry from Marsh Harbour in Abaco. You can fly from West Palm Beach, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando or Nassau to Marsh Harbour International Airport in Abaco. The flight is approximately 1 hour. Airlines to Marsh Harbour are US Air, American Airlines, Continental, Bahamasair, Vintage Air, Air Sunshine, Island Express. The airport also serves private charter flights.
Taxis at the airport are plentiful to meet all flights. After clearing Immigration and Customs, you can hire a cab to take you to the ferry dock for Hopetown. On the way, you may care to stop at the grocery stores to do some shopping. You will find the cab drivers are all amenable and happy to do this. The journey from the airport to the dock is 20 minutes and ferries to Hopetown leave the dock in Marsh Harbour at 2 pm, 4 pm and 5.30 pm. If you are a large group, it may be best to rent a ferry from Marsh Harbour to your private dock. The ferry ride from Marsh Harbour takes 20 minutes. Before your ferry ride, you may wish to stop at Mangoes or Wallys for some lunch. There are excellent restaurants in Marsh Harbour as well as on Elbow Cay. Check in time is no earlier than 3pm and check out time is before 10 am.
Renting a boat is optional because this island has everything. However, you may decide to rent a boat in order to visit other islands and to go beach exploring. Island Marine gives a discount to guests at Ekali Estate and Villa San Paulo. Their phone number is 1-242-366-0282, Fax number: 1-242-366-0281. There is also Rich's Boat Rental, 1-242-367-2742, Fax number: 1-242-367-2682. For golf cart rental, try calling Hope Town Golf Cart Rental at 1-242-366-0064 or Wanda Sweeting at Wanda@oii.net, Phone number 1-242-366-0069. We do recommend gas propane golf carts as they are somewhat more reliable than electrical golf carts. They do not need charging every night and will not break down on the road as you will have a supply for 2 weeks.
Nearby Attractions: You will find that the fish are abundant and fishing excellent. The catch will be either tuna, grouper, snapper, hogfish, jacks, runners, porgies, grunt, dolphin and wahoo. There are splendid fishing areas here including bone fishing. You can also dive for conch and lobster in season.
For bonefishing, contact Buddy Pinder at 1-242-366-2163 or 1-242-366-2234. Protected by the cays, you will find a beautiful variety of coral gardens, i.e. Sandy Cay, 2,100 acres for snorkelling and diving. The clarity and colour of the sea will astound you. There are many sites perfect for diving and snorkelling, even for beginners. You can bring your own equipment or rent it. There are several professional tour operators who will show you the finest diving and snorkelling in the Abacos. We recommend Froggies Out Island Adventures in Hopetown. They provide instruction and all the gear necessary including tanks. They will take you on guided trips to the reefs where you will see the most amazing collection of angel fish coloured all the bright hues of a rainbow swimming among great trees of coral all kinds to fantail coral. You can imagine Neptune in a beautiful underworld! You will be able to follow so many different pursuits from Ekali such as beachcombing on the pink and white beaches. Visit the famous Tahiti Beach less than 5 minutes by boat from your private dock. You will also have so much fun just swimming and snorkeling or fishing off the private dock
SHOPPING, SIGHTSEEING: Hopetown provides so much of interest from the famous candy striped lighthouse in the picturesque harbour to the historic Loyalist settlement. You will be able to read all about it in the local museum. Man-O-War Cay has the famous boat building industry and sail shop. Guana Cay has a gorgeous 9 mile beach and several beach bars. Little harbour is a very pretty small anchorage and is well known for the world famous bronze artist, Randolph Johnson. In Marsh Harbour, you will also find many interesting shops, great boutiques for caribbean clothing and fine jewellery stores.
In Marsh Harbour, there are 2 large supermarkets, several liquor stores and bakeries which you will find very useful on your arrival. Your cab driver will cheerfully wait for you while you shop. In Hopetown, there are four grocery stores, all well stocked. In Vernons Grocery store, you will find the most delicious pies and homebaked bread. There are also two liquor stores on Elbow Cay. Hours are generally 9 - 6, closed on Sundays and holidays. However, you will find about 2 minutes from Ekali Estate, LVA's well stocked convenience store which is open on Sundays 10 am to 2 pm, great for new arrivals on Saturday who did not have time to shop in Marsh Harbour. There is also Sweeting's Grocery Store at White Sound open during the week but not on Sundays.
Amenities: The houses are surrounded with landscaped gardens of bushes, palm and other tropical plants. There are two orchards, the lower garden of citrus, oranges, limes and grapefruit, and an upper garden with bananas, carambola, tangerines and lychees. Walkways lead from the houses to the sea. One of these walkways is without steps and leads to a large seafront deck and cabana. There is a boat slip with easy access to the sea and a 100 ft dock that can accommodate a yacht to 60 ft along with ample space for smaller boats.
You will enjoy right here the beautiful, warm, blue and green water of the Caribbean.
FACILITIES: There are standby diesel generators located away from both homes. All water supplies are fitted with filters to ensure purity. Both properties have washers and dryers available. Brand new computers are available in both properties with internet connections. The property has its own asphalt driveway connecting to the main island asphalt road. It is approximately 8 minutes to downtown Hopetown by golf cart.. We do recommend a golf cart for easy transport to restaurants day and evening as well as exploring the island. However, you should know that some restaurants provide transport and will pick you up at the door and drop you off home.
You have a beautiful, private bay for incredible swimming and snorkelling or you may choose to fish off the dock. Again, we emphasise the importance of location for your enjoyment.

Caribbean Travel Tip Water Safety Make certain that sports equipment, including scuba equipment, that you rent or buy meets international safety standards.
If you use a beach without a lifeguard, exercise extreme caution. Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for Americans in the Caribbean.
Do not dive into unknown bodies of water because hidden rocks or shallow depths can cause serious injury or death. In some places, you may need to wear sneakers in the water for protection against sea urchins.
