Nearby Attractions: You come to Martinique for the sun, the coconut palms and the white sand beaches... But you will discover very quickly that Madinina, the flowers island, conceals many treasures... The extreme south of the island, savage and preserved, will surprise you by the diversity of its landscapes. A 28 Kms hiking trail makes it possible to pass from an animated beach to a deserted beach, to discover a very varied vegetation, and to admire exceptional points of view on the Caribbean Sea or the Atlantic Ocean, while passing by the quasi-lunar sights of the Savanna of the Petrifications.
You can't leave Martinique without having visited the windward coast, its white sand beaches, its coral reef, its little islands and its wild coves. If the north of the island is famous for its mountains, the south offers a very undulating landscape all the same. It is the Morne Crève-Coeur in Sainte Anne, which gave rise to the island. Several excursions enable you to admire from the exceptional points of view Morne Gommier which you can reach by car, offers a sight on all the south, from the Diamond Rock to Vauclin. Diving The Caribbean Sea shelters very many coral reefs (which one calls here the "cayes"), and which are the refuge of a multitude of more coloured fish species all the ones than the others. Many of these "spots" of diving are accessible even to the initial divers, and of many centers allow to make a "baptism of diving" in full safety, or divings requiring a higher level, like the fantastic diving at the Diamond Rock. But if water is not your element of predilection, you will be able all the same to admire sea-beds on board a boat of glass allowing you a panoramic underwater vision Sailing Of course all the other nautical activities are possible in Sainte Anne, and you will be able to discover the coast with a scooter of the seas or a kayak, to make water skiing, to rent a beach boat or a hobby cat, to initiate with the wind-board or kyte-surfing... According to your level, you will choose the powerful waves of the Atlantic coast or calm water of the leeward coast. Horse Riding Whatever your horseriding level is you will enjoy riding along the wild Atlantic coast. Golf In Trois-Ilets a 18-holes golf made by Robert Trent-Jones offers you a magnificient point of view on Fort de France. The Far Nortn A day-trip in the far North will allow you to discover the luxurious tropical forest and visit marvellous botanicals gardens such "Balata" or "Anse La Touche". Drop the Anchor ! Sainte Anne is situated at only a few kilometers from "Le Marin", a grat sailing resort area. From Le Marin you can sail on board a giant catamaran to discover the wild Carribean coastline or even the neibour island of Ste Lucia in a day's outing. Waterfalls After a very pleasant walk up a river you can reach fantastic -but secret- waterfalls

Caribbean Travel Tip Travel Insurance Travel insurance is the best way to protect yourself against financial loss. The most useful plan is a comprehensive policy that includes coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, default, trip delay, and medical expenses (with a waiver for preexisting conditions).
Without insurance, you will lose all or most of your money if you cancel your trip or have to cut it short, regardless of the reason. Default insurance covers you if your tour operator, airline, or cruise line goes out of business. Trip-delay covers unforeseen expenses that you may incur due to bad weather or mechanical delays. Study the fine print when comparing policies.
For overseas travel, one of the most important components of travel insurance is its medical coverage. Supplemental health insurance will pick up the cost of your medical bills should you get sick or injured while traveling.
U.S. residents should note that Medicare generally does not cover health-care costs outside the United States, nor do many privately issued policies.
Residents of the United Kingdom can buy an annual travel-insurance policy valid for most vacations taken during the year in which the coverage is purchased.
If you are pregnant or have a pre-existing condition, make sure you're covered.
Always buy travel insurance directly from an insurance company or agent; if you buy it from a cruise line, airline, or tour operator that goes out of business, you probably will not be covered for the agency or operator's default, a major risk. Before you make any purchase, review your existing health and home-owner's policies to find out whether they cover expenses incurred while traveling.
