Site Information:
Hotel Club Residencial Sosua
Our complex is about 700m (almost 1/2 mile) away from the beach, in the center of Sosua, ten minutes by car to the East of the International Airport of Puerto Plata, and is on the North coast of the Dominican Republic.
|
More Info: Layout: The complex consists of 54 apartments, a bar, a restaurant, two pools, a party area and a laundromat. The deck chairs by the pool are included in the price. The big pool is the center of the complex. Our own generator provides us with 24 hour power. We have a security service that takes care of the safety around the area.
Club Residencial is the perfect place for people that, besides peace and quiet in a well taken care of complex, are also willing to get to know the country and the people. Families with children as well as older people will feel very much at home in our luscious garden with its 2 pools.
Sosua, its beach and the Sosua Bay Area with its tiny beach side shops, streetcafes and discotheques has its very own character. Shortly before World War ll more than 1000 German Jews got political asylum and founded flourishing agricultural businesses here. After the Puerto Plata Airport opened, it rapidly developed into a blooming tourist town. Nowadays almost everything is for sale or for rent here. For short distances there are lots of taxis and cheap motoconchos at your service. Long distance trips can be done by large airconditioned busses. These transport tourists as well as locals to the main cities on the island.
Nearby Attractions: Swimming and diving: The sun takes care of the sunbathers on the gold colored beach of Sosua. One can simply lay down under a palm tree, rent a beach chair or a parasol and order drinks and snacks from the locals. The water is clear and mostly calm. Even just by snorkeling on the nearby reef one can already get a taste of the colorful underwater world. There are also many beautiful coral reefs right in front of the coast. Diving trips can be booked at one of the several diving centers that offers guided dives on a daily basis.
Excursions: For those who would like to go and explore the ocean there are catamarans as well as fishing boats that can be rented.
For the more adventurous amongst us there are jeep excursions as well as white water rafting excursions that take one through the mountains more towards the center of the island. The traveling agencies in Sosua offer lots of different trips to the beautiful places that can be visited on this island. From botanical trips to climbing waterfalls, from horseback riding along the beaches with their palm trees to whale watching in Samana bay. Going to the nearby city of Santiago in your own Rental Car is quite the adventure and gives an interesting impression of life in a Dominican city.
Amenities: Apartments: The apartments (about 60 square meters or about 18 square feet) are comfortably furnished in the local style. Your apartment consists of a living room with a dining area, a fully furnished kitchen with a gas or electric stove and a refrigerator, cable tv with 70 channels of which several are in English. All rooms have a balcony, a living room with two large beds, a sink, and a bathroom with a bath tub and a toilet. The living room and the bedroom both have ceiling fans and the superior apartments are airconditioned.
Food and beverages: Breakfast is served every morning by the poolbar. Throughout the day there are small snacks, pizzas etc available.
There are restaurants, shops, supermarkets, bars and several other leisurely possibilities.

About Kingston Jamaica - Jamaica Few Caribbean islands can offer up the diversity of our island country - where there's so much more than "rum, sun & raggae" - especially in the often overlooked capital city of Kingston, the heartbeat of Jamaica and the second largest English-speaking city south of Miami, Florida. Kingston overlooks what is the seventh largest natural harbour in the world. Like a fan, the city spreads north from the harbour as far as the foothills of the famous Blue Mountains - impressive peaks that form a glorious backdrop to the whole.

Caribbean Travel Tip Entry and Exit Requirements Entering: Every island in the Caribbean has its own entry requirements. Most countries allow you to visit for up to two or three months if you show proof of U.S. citizenship and a return or onward ticket. Some countries, however, require that you have a valid passport. If you are arriving from an area infected with yellow fever, many Caribbean countries require you to have a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Some countries have an airport departure tax of up to $25. For authoritative information on a country's entry and exit requirements and on its customs and currency regulations, contact its embassy, consulate, or tourist office in the United States.
Returning - Caution! Make certain that you can return to the United States with the proof of citizenship that you take with you. Although some Caribbean countries may allow you to enter with only a birth certificate, U.S. Immigration requires that you document both your U.S. citizenship and identity when you reenter the United States.
The best document to prove your U.S. citizenship is a valid U.S. passport. Other documents of U.S. citizenship include an expired U.S. passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate, a Certificate of Naturalization , a Certificate of Citizenship , or a Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen.
To prove your identity, either a valid driver's license or a government identification card that includes a photo or a physical description is acceptable.
If you lose or have your U.S. passport stolen while overseas, report it immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. A lost or stolen birth certificate or driver's license cannot be replaced outside the United States. There are several countries, most notably Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, and Jamaica, where airlines have consistently refused to board American citizens with insufficient proof of U.S. citizenship. The resulting delays can be inconvenient as well as expensive.
