More Info:
Turtle House tenants are welcome at both which provide windsurfers,
sailboats as well as diving trips. Turtle House comes fully equipped
with snorkelling equipment with fins and goggles to fit all. Spear fishing equipment and hand lines for local fishing and diving around Stocking Island are also provided.

The Atlantic side of the Island is wilder and lonelier, a perfect place for beachcombing, searching for shells or just walking. There are only eight houses on the whole Island...and of course, no roads. Everything here is done by boat.

Just in front of the house is one of the best anchorages in the area, although the whole of Elizabeth Harbour is safe and sheltered.

At the center of the Island on top of a 100ft hill lies a stone obelisk, erected to guide ships in to load up with salt in the last century, it would be accompanied with a fire to show when there was salt for sale.

The Exumas are a collection of 365 cays that Back stretch out for roughly 100 miles between Eleuthera and Long Island. Surrounded by crystal clear turquoise water they lie in a stepping stone formation
heading south. Great Exuma is the largest Island in the chain with a total population of approximately 4000.

George Town, Great Exuma's capital, lies in the middle of the Island, protected from the Atlantic waves by Stocking Island, 2.5 miles long and 1.5 miles offshore with Elizabeth Harbour between the two; the population of Georgetown is just 800 people.

At the south end of the Island a small road bridge known as 'the ferry' joins Great Exuma to Little Exuma, whilst at the north end of the Island the Exuma Cays National Land and Sea Park sits lies approx 8 miles from Staniel Cay.

The Exuma National Cays National Land and Sea Park was created in 1958, the first in the world it covers approximately 170 square miles. It is a protected area strictly enforced by the Government, fishing by line or spear is prohibited to preserve the dense marine life as well as the extensive variety of coral.

Nearby Attractions:
Bone Fishing in the Exumas is some of the best in the world. It is rapidly becoming the most preferable way to fish; Under the Bahamian sun in crystal clear water, what else could a fisherman require! Guides are available in Georgetown and whether you're a beginner or a professional they can cater for every level.

The local guides are experts in teaching anyone who is not proficient with a single rod and will make any day the most exciting and fun experience you can have.

Caribbean Travel Tip

Entry and Exit Requirements
Entering: Every island in the Caribbean has its own entry requirements. Most countries allow you to visit for up to two or three months if you show proof of U.S. citizenship and a return or onward ticket. Some countries, however, require that you have a valid passport. If you are arriving from an area infected with yellow fever, many Caribbean countries require you to have a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Some countries have an airport departure tax of up to $25. For authoritative information on a country's entry and exit requirements and on its customs and currency regulations, contact its embassy, consulate, or tourist office in the United States. Returning - Caution! Make certain that you can return to the United States with the proof of citizenship that you take with you. Although some Caribbean countries may allow you to enter with only a birth certificate, U.S. Immigration requires that you document both your U.S. citizenship and identity when you reenter the United States. The best document to prove your U.S. citizenship is a valid U.S. passport. Other documents of U.S. citizenship include an expired U.S. passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate, a Certificate of Naturalization , a Certificate of Citizenship , or a Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen. To prove your identity, either a valid driver's license or a government identification card that includes a photo or a physical description is acceptable. If you lose or have your U.S. passport stolen while overseas, report it immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. A lost or stolen birth certificate or driver's license cannot be replaced outside the United States. There are several countries, most notably Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, and Jamaica, where airlines have consistently refused to board American citizens with insufficient proof of U.S. citizenship. The resulting delays can be inconvenient as well as expensive.
