Site Information:
Calico Kai
The Calico Kai luxury vacation condominium is one of a group of 20 condo homes, located in the heart of Rum Point. Rum Point, long considered the most beautiful spot on Grand Cayman is situated on the calm and crystal clear waters in the exclusive upscale Cayman Kai community.
|
More Info: Calico Kai is a fully furnished and equipped 2 bedroom, 2 bath - 2 story vacation property. Walk out the front door and you are steps from Rum Point Beach and The Wreck Bar and the Hyatt 5 star dinner restaurant.
Rum point features lovely white sand beaches, pristine snorkeling over marine protected reefs, volleyball and beautiful Casaurina Australian pines with shaded hammocks, beach chairs and picnic tables. The Hyatt operates The Wreck Bar at Rum Point, which offers an excellent lunch menu and full bar.
Nearby Attractions: Red Sail Sports is a full service watersports operation, with dive and snorkel trips to world famous Stingray City and the North wall. They also feature jet ski, sunfish, paddleboat, dive and snorkel gear rentals. Red Sail Sports also operates a 50 foot ferry boat, which commutes from Rum Point across the North Sound over to The Hyatt Hotel and Resort on 7 mile beach. This 20 minute ferry operates 5-6 times a day. For those visiting on Sunday, we suggest taking the ferry over to the Hyatt for an excellent Sunday brunch and afternoon of fun and sun at 7 mile beach.
For additional dive and snorkel options, we highly reccommend Ocean Frontiers. They are located in East End, a 20 minute drive and specialize in the East End and North Side wall dives and reef locations. They feature Nitox, rebreathers, night dives and shark encounters.
The Hyatt also owns the 5 star dinner restaurant which features excellent seafood, steak and Italian cuisine. Just around the corner is The Kaibo, a 2 story restaurant and open air bar located on a beautiful sandy beach, bay and marina in Cayman Kai. The Barefoot Man performs live on Saturdays. The Kaibo specializes in New Orleans Cajun dishes mixed with Cayman style cooking and is open for lunch and dinner.
The Driftwood Sports Bar, 2 miles down the road is a favorite spot to catch all of the live sporting events via satellite TV, and hosts an excellent Sunday afternoon/evening BarBQ from 3:00 - Til. The Driftwood Mudslide is a world famous concoction that must be sampled. For entertainment, Morritt's Tortuga Club and Resort is a 15 minute drive. This large timeshare resort has a variety of events and activities day and night for both adults and children. On Monday and Thursday nights, Lammie plays on the beachfront open lanai.
Additional activities on Grand Cayman include The Botanical Garden, Atlantis Sumbmarine Tours, The Turtle Farm, Horseback Riding, Championship Golf, Windsurfing at Morritt's Tortuga Club, and duty free shopping in George Town.
We suggest renting a car while on the island, and can arrange your car rental through McCurley's Tours and Car Rentals. Rates are $275 - 300 per week, and include airport pick up and transfer to Calico Kai where your car is waiting. Cars are late model, automatic with AC. They also transfer you back to the airport for your departure. This is a great way to go, eliminating the need to pack people and luggage in a car, and also provides for an orientation guide of the island on your 45 minute ride to Rum Point.
Amenities: The Calico Kai condo has a king sized bed in the master bedroom, with two twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. It also offers a full sleeper couch and can easily accommodate up to 6 people. The condo is shaded under Australian pines and enjoys consistent tradewinds that come across from Rum Point through the facility to the Cayman Kai lagoon with no A/C required. Ceiling fans are throughout, and we have air conditioners in each of the bedrooms for our guests.
The condo has a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances including the refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender and garbage disposal. The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer and the condo comes equipped with linens and towels, along with basic toiletries for your arrival. Chisholm's grocery is a 7 minute drive just down the road. The unit has Cable TV, stereo, phone and a small library.

Caribbean Travel Tip Bring light ponchos for rain gear. Bring light ponchos for rain gear. These can be purchased from most camping stores. Many stadiums also carry a light poncho to sell to fans of local football teams. These work great as well. They are small and light and easy to carry anywhere you go as a rain cloud can come in no time and dump a monsoon on your head.
