Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso
This intimate beach resort and thalassotherapy spa is nestled on the secluded sugar-white beaches along Petenpich Bay in a 14-acre oasis carved from the tropical selva, and combines the elegance of traditional Mexican architecture with the great Mayan culture that is the hallmark of the Yucatan Peninsula.
|
More Info: Tucked into a protected private bay and surrounded by mangroves and a bird sanctuary, Paraiso de la Bonita is only 20 minutes south of Cancun International Airport, yet a world away on Mexico's Mayan Riviera.
Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso meets all the high expectations of the international traveler in the 21st century, with discreet comfort and with impeccable service. Massages, beauty and hydrotherapy treatments are also offered.
The Resort's meeting room can accommodate celebrations, private receptions or meetings, indoors and outdoors, surrounded by the flora and flora of the beautiful Yucatan landscape.

Guided Tours No visit to Mexico's Yucatan would be complete without exploring some of the hundreds of fabulous archaeological ruins and pyramids. The resort goes one extra step by ensuring that guests may enjoy highly personalized tours of regional attractions, with each couple privately escorted by a multilingual guide.
Chichen Itza The ancient temples and ruins of Chichen Itza, the great Mayan city which once dominated the entire Yucatan peninsula, are the region's best known and most impressive. Located a two-hour drive from Paraiso de la Bonita, the visit is a rewarding look at one of Mexico's greatest archaeological sites.
Tulum Located above a jagged limestone cliff overlooking the Caribbean, the ancient walled city of Tulum was the Mayan's largest coastal city and an important trading port. Settled during the post-Classic period (900 -1500 CE), the city was formerly known as Zama, (meaning sunrise in Mayan).
Coba Coba, the Mayan word meaning "water stirred by the wind", is perhaps the Mayan Riviera's most unusual and serene archaeological ruin. Built deep within the jungle along five lakes during the Classic period (600 -900 CE), Coba was once a prosperous city of 40,000 inhabitants and is thought to have had some 6,500 structures spread out over 70 square kilometers (43 square miles), although only a small part of the city has been excavated so far.
Ek Balam and Valladolid The little-known, recently restored site at Ek Balam in the state of Yucatan is another reminder of the extensive influence of the Mayans. Ek Balam is a name in Yucatecan Mayan that can be literally translated as "black or dark jaguar".
Founded about 100 BCE, it was probably one of the most powerful pre-Hispanic Mayan cities in the Yucatan, economically, religiously and socially speaking. It reached the height of its power during the late classical period of 600-1000 CE.
Amenities: Paraiso de la Bonita offers 90 luxurious guest accomodations, including the Master and the Bali Suites. Each suite is individually created in an eclectic and elegant style incorporating design elements from around the world: Caribbean, Mediterranean, Indian, African, Balinese and Asian. With each decorative piece hand-picked, every suite has a comfortable but extraordinary atmosphere; sure to stimulate the 'decorating bug' in each of its visitors. The hotel's exterior reflects the Mayan culture and architecture that is the hallmark of the Yucatan Peninsula.
The highest expectations of international travelers are met with impeccable service, luxurious amenities, outstanding facilities and memorable aesthetics and design. The 1st floor rooms have private plunge pools, while the upper levels feature terraces with umbrellas and hammocks.
Each accommodation has its own private terrace and magnificent ocean view. All rooms have a minibar, air conditioning, dual direct-dial telephone lines with Internet access, two color televisions and a DVD player.

Caribbean Travel Tip Driving in the Caribbean If you plan to rent a car, be aware that most jurisdictions of the Caribbean drive on the left. The only places where you drive on the right are Aruba, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique, and the Netherlands Antilles. In other places, if you are not used to driving on the left, proceed slowly and with utmost caution. You may wish to ride as a passenger for a while before trying to drive yourself.
Driving conditions and local driving patterns are different from the U.S. Many roads are narrow or winding, signs may not be in English, and in some places, domestic animals roam freely. Defensive driving is a must.
