More Info:
A PRIVATE HOME – not an apartment, not a hotel room where the neighbor’s late night or early morning habits clash with your own schedule. Want to sleep until noon? Great – close the drapes, turn on the A/C, and sleep until YOU want to get up! Slow your pace, shed your stress, kick back, and spend endless, beautiful days in paradise. Take a walk on the beach. Explore. Take a nap without being disturbed. Throw a line off the pier... maybe you’ll catch your dinner! Read the book(s) you’ve been meaning to get to. Refresh your body in the pool. Refresh your soul in the tranquil setting. Stargazing from the end of the pier is an enchanting way to end the day and really feel the "Magic of Belize". There is so much to experience—even when you do nothing!

Want to get up a 4 a.m. and watch the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea with a cup of coffee (made in your own kitchen, the way you like it) from your own private verandah or pier? YOU CAN... and the sunrise is definitely worth getting up for! Meet some nice folks you’d like to have over for a party? DO IT! You have a house, a pool, and a beach – it’s your home away from home.

TWO MASTER SUITES - each with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, and a private entrance/exit to patio, pool, and beach. Keep the suite refrigerator filled with your favorite snacks and drinks. Each suite is equipped with an A/C unit and ceiling fan. Of course, you can always open the windows and enjoy that wonderful Caribbean breeze! The queen-size beds and the bedside tables were made right here on Ambergris from Belizean mahogany. The bedside lamps are consistent with the motif of each suite, and are handcrafted by local artisans. The curtains are hand-made, as are the colorful batik/tie-dye bed coverlets. A crib/play yard is available for the family vacationing with a little one.

The Celestial Suite is decorated in a moon and stars motif. The whole room glows as the sun filters through the bright yellow curtains.

The Undersea Garden would make The Little Mermaid feel right at home! Beautiful tropical fish swim on the walls, as the turquoise curtains cast an undersea hue to the room.

Each bedroom suite has an adjoining bathroom featuring hand-made ceramic tiles and sinks (two sinks in each bath).

GREAT ROOM - with head-on views of the barrier reef and Caribbean Sea.

ALSO FEATURING...

Living area with traditional wicker reading chaises, two cushy queen-size sleep sofas, and an entertainment center (and views of the Sea)

Full bathroom with hand-made tiles. Mahogany trim and cabinets throughout. A/C and ceiling fans.

Dining area with solid mahogany custom-made table and chairs (and views of the Sea)

Fully equipped "gourmet" kitchen with breakfast bar (and views of the Sea)

French doors open to a covered verandah with hammock, chairs, cool breezes, and yes, VIEWS OF THE SEA!

SUNSET VERANDAH – Just another cozy place for you to enjoy the beautiful Belize evenings. This screened verandah is where you will want to be when the sun makes its way to the West and disappears into the jungle. Linger a while and watch the fireflies put on a light show in the bamboo, and listen to the jungle come alive.

POOL – It’s big and beautiful, with wide sunning decks around it; in a setting of brilliant white sand, graceful palm trees, and exotic tropical gardens. The perfect place to spend a few hours of relaxation.

PIER – Whether for sunning, fishing, swimming or watching sea life, it’s your pier, enjoy it! Water-taxis and the Island Ferry will pick you up at the pier for excursions into San Pedro, day trips, or snorkeling/diving excursions.

YOUR NEIGHBORS – The first person you meet at the Villa will probably be Raymond Lewis – "The Man In Charge". He will keep the grounds of Los Encantos nice and tidy for you. Raymond is a Native Belizean, and he can answer any question for you – he will even tell you what tomorrow’s weather will be!

Your first "visitor" will probably be our neighbor’s dog, Billie. She belongs to Bob and Diane Campbell (next house to the north) whenever there are no guests at Los Encantos for her to take care of. She takes her job seriously, and only asks for a scratch behind her ears as payment.

FINE DINING – (and other fare...) The "best of the best" for fine dining on Ambergris are all near Los Encantos. Stroll up the beach to Mata Chica’s famous "Mambo" restaurant. Savor exotic French-Thai food at Rendezvous House (a 5-minute stroll south). Or have Capricorn’s own water taxi pick you up for a wonderful evening of al-fresco dining just south along the water’s edge. Fun beach bars and casual food can be found at Journey’s End, Captain Morgan’s, Sundiver, Avalon Beach Club, and "Kitty’s Bar". Most are a pleasant beach-walk from your door.

And sometimes the "best of the best" is right in your own kitchen! We can provision the villa with basic foodstuffs and case-lots of beverages. Most guests like to do some "food shopping" for themselves upon arrival in San Pedro (your taxi driver will take you).

Nearby Attractions:
After the "kick back" part of your vacation, you may want to "kick it into gear." SCUBA some of the finest dive sites in the world. Snorkel on the second longest barrier reef in the world. Swim with the sharks and rays at Shark-Ray Alley. Maybe you will see a sea turtle at Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Parasail! See Ambergris from the air! Go cave tubing on an underground river and see where the Mayans lived. Fish (reef and deep sea). Take a day trip to a Mayan ruin (Altun Ha or Lamanai) and visit Bomba Village and Maruba Spa on your way.

FISH – For the fly-fisherman we can promise some of the best bone-fishing flats in all of Belize – located just about 100 yards from the villa. All-Day fishing trips can be arranged, with your guide turning to chef when he cooks up the catch of the day for a beach picnic. We have supplied the villa with some basic fishing gear. If you wish to use it, just let us know and we will have it waiting for you upon your arrival.

BIRDWATCHING – Sandpipers, great blue herons, white ibis, egrets, frigates, pelicans, songbirds, owls, hummingbirds, ospreys, banana birds, finches... all share the neighborhood with you at Los Encantos, Villa del Sol. We have a nice pair of binoculars for your use in the villa.

BIKES – For the kid in all of us. We have two bicycles available for your use during your stay at Los Encantos. Take a ride along the beach. It’s a wonderful way to explore your surroundings, and get a little exercise, too!

KAYAKING – The Belize Barrier Reef is right outside your front door! A beautiful site, and fun to explore! For the adventuresome, we have a two-person sea kayak available for your use while at Los Encantos, Villa del Sol. Paddle out to the reef for some incredible snorkeling! Or... just paddle! Gary and his mother had a wonderful day of kayaking! She is in her 80's and if she can do it, so can you. Next trip down, we are going to take her parasailing! Way to go, Mom!

TOUR BOOKINGS - (and other fun stuff to do) – The short story is this... If you want to do it, we can book it for you. SCUBA (half-day or all day), snorkeling, glass-bottom boat rides, sunset dinner cruise, deep sea or reef fishing, Mayan ruins and jungle wildlife tour (Tikal, Lamanai, Altun-Ha), manatee watching tour, water-taxi to Caye Caulker for the day (and stop along the way to snorkel), cave-tubing, parasailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, kayak safari in the lagoons behind San Pedro (half day).

If your desire is a little more "passive", spend the day being pampered at La Diosa Spa with massages, manicures, etc. The hardest part will be deciding what to do. We’ll do the rest.

- Every-other-day maid service
- Laundry service on request

Caribbean Travel Tip

Ocean Undercurrents
If you get sucked out into the ocean by an undercurrent follow these instructions: Do not panic, save all your strength. Act immediately. Swim parallel to the shoreline. Even if you cannot, keep trying until you can. What you are doing is swimming out of the undertow and into the current that will more than likely push you back to shore. Remember, in saltwater you float so you can stay alive for any number of days. Unless you are on a secluded beach a boat will reach you in time to rescue you should you fail to not be able to swim out of the undertow.
