More Info: We are the only full service resort on the Sittee River. We are relatively small and intend to stay that way; to more easily offer our guests individual attention.
LOCATION LILLPAT Sittee River Resort, located 20 miles south of Dangriga on the pristine Sittee River, is surrounded by riverine forest.
The Sittee river is in the middle of the biological wealth of a tropical watersheds. The river drains the large region of the Cockscomb Basin. A trip on the river reveals healthy populations of iguanas, egrets, ibis and herons. We have witnessed large manatees in front of our dock. Although not a common sight, manatees frequent the river.
BIRDING - over 193 species have been identified on the property.
Because of our proximity to the jungle, the wildlife is abundant - parrots, toucans, and iguanas are a daily sight.
Nearby Attractions: Our location is ideal for many varied pursuits: - Guided Canoe Trips on the Sittee River - Excursions only four miles from the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve - Walk only a half mile to the historic Serpon Sugar Mill - Day trips to Cayes for snorkeling and shore lunch - All kinds of fishing (bottom, fly, offshore, etc.) - Shopping in Guatemala - Day trips to Maya Ruins - Trips to the Belize Zoo ...and more! Contact us for specific activities
Special request trips can be arranged to the Smithsonian Marine Institute and nearby caves that are home to the booby bird and the graceful manatees. An exciting boat trip up the Sittee River is a fascinating way to get in touch with the natural wonders of the jungle, or plan to see the world's only jaguar reserve. Finally, there are the day trips to the ancient Mayan Ruins. If you have questions about any of the above activities, please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
LILLPAT has fully equipped boats with all USCG approved safety equipment. The boats were specifically designed to accommodate all our fishing needs - fly, spin and trolling.
LILLPAT prides itself on employing the best fishing guides in Central Belize. they are not only expert at locating fish, but also aware of the fisherman's needs and comfort.
Tarpon: Because of its' unique location, the Sittee River offers one of the best maturation grounds for tarpon. The proximity of the Anderson and Boom Creek lagoons and their mangroves are ideal for the development of "Baby Tarpon". Tarpons are considered babies up to 60 pounds.
Snook: Snook are also plentiful in the river and adjacent lagoons. Delighted recent guests have caught and released snook up to 26 pounds.
Bonefish & Permit: Bonefish are plentiful around the nearby cayes - usually within a half hour boat ride from the mouth of the Sittee River. The elusive Permit are found in the nearby flats. However, for the dedicated permit fishermen, we offer a two day trip to Punta Icacos flats in Southern Belize.
General Trolling: The waters along the Barrier Reef offer some of the best Barracuda, Kingfish and Wahoo. In December and January, the Grouper run is the best in the world. There are various tournaments in Belize that offer Marlin, Sailfish, Kingfish, etc. Check with us for dates.
Amenities: We are located on 50 acres adjacent to the Sittee River. The lodge has 4 double occupancy rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned. We provide locally produced and comfortable wicker furniture. All rooms open up to the central swimming pool and a short walk down to the rivers edge.

Caribbean Travel Tip Entry and Exit Requirements Entering: Every island in the Caribbean has its own entry requirements. Most countries allow you to visit for up to two or three months if you show proof of U.S. citizenship and a return or onward ticket. Some countries, however, require that you have a valid passport. If you are arriving from an area infected with yellow fever, many Caribbean countries require you to have a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Some countries have an airport departure tax of up to $25. For authoritative information on a country's entry and exit requirements and on its customs and currency regulations, contact its embassy, consulate, or tourist office in the United States.
Returning - Caution! Make certain that you can return to the United States with the proof of citizenship that you take with you. Although some Caribbean countries may allow you to enter with only a birth certificate, U.S. Immigration requires that you document both your U.S. citizenship and identity when you reenter the United States.
The best document to prove your U.S. citizenship is a valid U.S. passport. Other documents of U.S. citizenship include an expired U.S. passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate, a Certificate of Naturalization , a Certificate of Citizenship , or a Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen.
To prove your identity, either a valid driver's license or a government identification card that includes a photo or a physical description is acceptable.
If you lose or have your U.S. passport stolen while overseas, report it immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. A lost or stolen birth certificate or driver's license cannot be replaced outside the United States. There are several countries, most notably Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, and Jamaica, where airlines have consistently refused to board American citizens with insufficient proof of U.S. citizenship. The resulting delays can be inconvenient as well as expensive.
