More Info: WHY HOMESTAYS GRENADA? Staying with a family in their home will allow you a unique insight into the lifestyles and culture of Grenadian people. It is a safe way to meet people and make friends easily. Staying with your hosts will be in a sense like having personal guides and through them you will get to see parts of Grenada and be involved with traditional (and new) activities you might not get to see otherwise on a typical vacation as a tourist. Grenada is a community-oriented place where 'everyone knows everyone' and you will see family life at first hand.
As a guest in any of our homes you will be treated like a member of the family and be included in the day-to-day life of the people in the home and the community. We try to match our guests with our hosts as far as possible so it is useful to us to know your interests and hobbies and ages of children, if any, so that you and your hosts may share common interests.
For those wanting more privacy, we have self-catering apartments, whole houses, large buildings with domitory-like facilities (certain times of year) and beautiful villas with all amenities, all of which are suitable for groups/families. We also invite you to explore the option of hiring a yacht. See our Go Sailing section.
Our aim is to bring people together to learn from one another and share their experiences to mutual benefit. We will also provide opportunities for learning in specific areas such as traditional arts and crafts, cooking, dance etc. which can provide a particular focus of interest during your stay.
The Caribbean has traditionally been an expensive destination for travellers - a homestay is an inexpensive way to visit the Caribbean - ideal for travellers with a family or on a budget. It is also great for single visitors, providing a safe and friendly environment in which to meet people easily. Grenadian people are gracious and charming, with a great sense of fun, and extremely hospitable especially when operating within their own environment. No 'trained smiles' here! It also allows Grenadian people to earn an income without changing their lifestyle or location.
Our hosts' homes are located in many different areas of Grenada and in the sister isle of Carriacou. You can choose a location near/ in a town, beach or in the heart of the countryside. The houses range from a simple wooden house with basic amenities to a very comfortable residence.
The furthest point away from our International Airport is only an hour and a half away, and you will never be more than 30 minutes from banks and shops.
If for some reason you are uncomfortable with your hosts you will have the option of changing houses. Another option is to combine a week in a hotel with a week staying with a family. We also have a link with a CSY 44 yacht with two private cabins, with which you could combine a trip with a fully qualified skipper up and down the Grenadines.
For those wanting more privacy, we have self-catering aptments, whole houses, large buildings with domitory-like facilities (certain times of year) and beautiful villas with all amenities, all of which are suitable for groups/families. Even if you stay in these accommodations, cooked meals may be available on request.
Nearby Attractions: We offer you the opportunity to learn a new skill whilst on vacation. This can provide an interesting focus for your holiday and a fun way to make friends. Classes/Workshops will normally be 2-3 hours daily or less, leaving you the rest of the day to laze about or sight-see.
We have currently on offer:
Theatre Workshops These are held by members of a well-known theatre group, TUMDA, who can give you a new perspective in drama. They will lead you through activities based around rhythm, movement, improvisation and story-telling. Great fun for all!
Drumming Workshops Also run by TUMDA members, who can host small or large group classes. The level can be pitched at experienced players or complete beginners - an enthusiasm to learn is the main thing! African/Caribbean rhythms explored. Drums will be provided.
Hammock-making A local craftsman will take you through all the stages of making your very own hammock. When you finish, attach to two coconut trees and..instant relaxation! Materials available. Introduction to West Indian Cookery Love spicy cooking? Why not take a few lessons in preparing Grenadian specialities? Learn to make Oil-down, the national dish, Peas and Rice, Callalloo Soup or Banana Bread amongst many others. Two Grenadian ladies, both qualified chefs, teach this course.
Wood-carving With one of the Caribbean's most accomplished wood-carvers, Wayne Snagg, learn the basics of creating beautiful sculptures out of local woods. Visit him at his home-based gallery in Calliste, St.George's.

Caribbean Travel Tip Bringing Your Own Boat or Plane If you plan to arrive in the Caribbean in your own boat or plane, contact the embassy, consulate, or tourist office of each country you plan to visit to learn what is required for entry and exit. Besides title of ownership, most ports of entry will require proof of insurance coverage for the country you are entering. Some countries require a temporary import permit for your boat or plane.
Authorities in the Caribbean are familiar with U.S. regulations for documentation of air and sea craft. They will detain improperly documented craft that enter their territory. In some countries, authorities will confiscate firearms found on a boat or plane unless the owner or master can show proof that U.S. licensing and export procedures have been followed. In addition, some countries impose stiff prison terms for the importation of illegal firearms.
