RESTAURANTS
There are numerous restaurants in Carriacou offering a range of fare including West Indian, sea food, International, European, and French Creole. Many are located in Hillsborough while others are scattered over the island. Prices vary from between $10.00 US to 25.00 US per person.

NIGHT LIFE
Carriacou is a sleepy island with an evening out consisting of gathering at the local rum shops and swapping stories or playing dominoes. However, occasionally live musical entertainment and dancing can be found at a few night clubs here and there.

UNDERWATER
Scuba diving and snorkeling trips can be organized through one of the three dive shops on the island. Dive excursions range from off shore reefs to walls and drop offs with a spectacular array of colorful fish, coral and plant life.

BEACHES & ISLANDS
Favorite beaches on Carriacou range from pinky/white to tan/gray sand and have shade trees. Paradise Beach is easily accessible by bus while scenic Anse La Roche requires a hike through the forest. Carriacou is surrounded by several lovely little islands which make ideal destinations for day trips. Speed boats can be hired to transport you to and from for a reasonable fee.

PLACES OF INTEREST
Carriacou's rich past has rendered many historical sites of interest scattered throughout the island including wells, plantations and windmill ruins both British and French. Other places to visit are the Carriacou Museum , Windward Boat Yard, Botanical Gardens, Anglican Rectory Garden, Canute Calliste Art Gallery and Oyster Beds.

HIKIING
There are many old tracks and trails criss-crossing Carriacou which make for good hiking. The countryside is very hilly and steep in some places, but worth the effort to reach some breath-taking views and ancient ruins.

TOURS
If you're not energetic, you can hire a taxi to give you a tour of the island. Also, taking the Osprey Express ferry to Petite Martinique is a nice day adventure.

Belair Gardens Cottage is about 2 miles outside of the main town of Hillsborough. A scenic, winding road takes you through the countryside and ascends to the village of Belair, some 700 feet above sea level. A jeep rental is recommended for those who wish to tour all the interesting sights on the island and to get to all the beaches. There are buses which go to and from Belair and Hillsborough a few times a day. Taxis are available, too.

Amenities:
The 400 square foot cottage accommodates two people comfortably with a queen size bed on the main floor, but will sleep 4 with an additional double bed in the sleeping loft. A fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with separate outdoor solar hot water shower, and a deck with a hammock are featured for your comfort.

No need for mosquito nets or fans as there is always a cool breeze up on this windward hillside. Your privacy and tranquility is assured as the cottage is located away from the main house, in which the owners live, and has a separate driveway.

Caribbean Travel Tip

Choosing a car-rental agency
When choosing a car-rental agency, ask your travel agent about a company's customer-service record. How has the company responded to late plane arrivals and vehicle mishaps? Are there often lines at the rental counter? If you're traveling during a holiday period, does a confirmed reservation guarantee you a car?
