East Winds Inn
East Winds Inn is a true "Caribbean Resort", secluded and romantically set amongst 8 acres of lush tropical gardens, on the golden beach-front of one of the best and most sheltered bays of St. Lucia yet just 5 miles from the capital, Castries.
|
More Info: East Winds Inn situated on eight acres of beautiful tropical gardens bordering directly on it's own sandy beach on La Brelotte Bay, is just half way (3 to 4 miles) between Castries and Rodney Bay. It consists of 30 rooms and 1 "mini-suite" located in 15 single storey cottages and offers a wide range of elegant facilities, including open-air Restaurant and Main Bar, a small shop-boutique and a lovely free-form swimming pool with it's own swim-up bar. The cuisine is of the highest standard serving a wide range of International and Caribbean dishes as well as daily vegetarian options all carefully completed by an enticing choice of different wines to suite. Under the expert and innovative guide of Chef Franck Chevrier, the Hotel, has won over the years several accolades and gold and silver medals in the many local and regional cuisine fairs and exhibitions. The Sunset Bar at the edge of the beach, the beautiful open air Club-House with it's own cocktail bar and the small "Card-room" in "The cottage" are other of the elegant features of the property. A "Nature Walk" around the property identifying the many indigenous plants, flowers and trees and with description of the different bird species which co-habit the tropical gardens has recently been laid out for the benefit of all guests.
St. Lucia is situated between Martinique and St. Vincent to the South. Discovered in 1502 by Christopher Colombo during his fourth trip to the Indies, it was for over 3 centuries a prized possession coveted by both Britain and France, changing hands and rule 14 times before settling down as a British Colony by the 1814 Treaty of Paris. St. Lucia became an independent Nation in 1979 and it remains a member of the British Commonwealth. St. Lucia is renowned as one of the most beautiful of the Caribbean Islands to be known also, because of its beauty, as the "Helen" of the West Indies. It offers a wide contrast of landscapes ranging from one of the few remaining tropical "rain" forests of the region, to beautiful beaches (both white and volcanic) and with its many bananas, cocoa and coconut plantations. This all dominated by the stunning view of the towering "Pitons", the two lava cones which stand guard to St. Lucia's "walk-in" volcano, the Soufrière.

Caribbean Travel Tip Ocean Undercurrents If you get sucked out into the ocean by an undercurrent follow these instructions:
Do not panic, save all your strength.
Act immediately. Swim parallel to the shoreline. Even if you cannot, keep trying until you can.
What you are doing is swimming out of the undertow and into the current that will more than likely push you back to shore. Remember, in saltwater you float so you can stay alive for any number of days. Unless you are on a secluded beach a boat will reach you in time to rescue you should you fail to not be able to swim out of the undertow.
