Hewanorra International Airport is 40 miles south and Vigie Airport is 12 miles south in the capital city of Castries. On a day tour you'll gaze at the magnificence of St Lucia's two volcanic Pitons. In their shadow plunges a tall waterfall named Diamond Falls surrounded by a tropical botanical garden. And not far away bubbles the worlds only drive-in steaming sulphur volcano. The mountains above are filled with orchids, equatorial ferns and screeching parrots, lush is an inadequate term to describe the sight. A drive up the island's east coast takes you through quaint villages and along coastal views whose ruggedness is more than splendid. Or you can elect to simply take a shopping tour of Castries where you can find local crafts and exotic batik.
