Anse Chastanet
Anse Chastanet offers 49 individually designed rooms, 37 of which are scattered about a lush hillside, and 12 which are nestled within a tropical garden at beach level. No two rooms at Anse Chastanet are exactly alike. Twelve beach-level units are tucked away behind the coconut palms, just steps from the water's edge and the resort's renowned SSI PLATINUM PRO/PADI dive facility. Perched on the hill are Anse Chastanet's original rooms; cherry white-washed cottages with wrap-around balconies. These octagonal shaped "gazeboes" offer splendid views of the Pitons and the sea, framed by an abundance of flourishing blossoms.

More Info: What were Caribbean hotels like before the trade winds were replaced by the blasts of air conditioning, when morning exercise was a walk on the beach and not water aerobics and when you sat watching the sunset instead of cable TV? You can still find out at the Anse Chastanet Resort on St.Lucia's unspoiled southwestern Caribbean coast.
Since architect Nick Troubetzkoy purchased the first 14 hillside units in 1974 and throughout the expansion and renovation that has followed, design in harmony with nature, complementing the island's natural beauty, has remained his focal point. The 600-acre site is a lush garden of tropical foliage bordering one of the island's best beaches, where soft silver sands dip into the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean. A second beach, Anse Mamin, belonging to the estate is just around the corner and can be reached by the resort's water taxi. St Lucia's trademark green peaks - the Gros and Petit Pitons - make for a dramatic backdrop.
Chairs and beds are covered in madras prints - a traditional island fabric of bright plaid woven with the same colours as the ginger lilies, anthuriums and bougainvillea found in every room.
Further up the hill are Anse Chastanet's deluxe suites, where Nick Troubetzkoy's architectural imagination can best be appreciated. Roomy is hardly the word to describe them. Immense is more accurate. And the sense of space is even further enhanced by the fact that as little as possible was put between the guests and their natural surroundings, leaving entire walls open to the vistas. Indeed, it's even hard to say where the inside stops and the outside begins: a flamboyant tree drapes its red-blossomed branches gently over the balcony in one room, the veranda of another was actually built around a red gommier tree. And the famous showers-with-a-view in the premium suites are a unique luxury of Anse Chastanet.
ANSE CHASTANET's ever growing art collection provides a visual feast of its own. Public areas and guest rooms all feature original art works by both local and international artists who have come to ANSE CHASTANET for inspiration and who have added some of their work to the resort collection. There are impressive wooden sculptures and plaques, earthy burlap compositions, painted "sky ceilings" and vibrant acrylic paintings revoking memories of Matisse and Picasso. The Resort's art gallery has an impressive variety of artwork.
While the sensuous seclusion of the rooms provide some guests with the perfect excuse for lolling away the day on the balcony, others head out to partake in the many activities on offer, from snorkeling, scuba diving, tennis, sunset sailing to jungle biking or a nature walk among the ruins of a colonial plantation.
The less actively inclined "simply do nothing", lie on the beach or enjoy one of the therapeutic body and beauty treatments offered by ANSE CHASTANET's spa Kai Belte located at beach level. There's also a casual, beachside bar and restaurant and a panoramic hillside terrace where breakfast and afternoon tea are served daily. Dinners are a romantic candlelit affair with a daily changing menu celebrating Tropical World Cuisine, with musical backdrops provided by local entertainers.
Honeymoons and Anniversaries
ANSE CHASTANET's spectacular scenic location, it's unique setting and special ambiance, has firmly ensconced the Resort as one of St. Lucia's foremost honeymoon vacation spots.
This position has been further cemented by the many romance awards ANSE CHASTANET has been proud to receive. Readers of Caribbean Travel and Life magazine have repeatedly voted ANSE CHASTANET to be one of the Caribbean's Most Romantic Resorts and A&E television voted ANSE CHASTANET to be ONE OF THE WORLD'S TOP TEN MOST ROMANTIC RESORTS based on a vote by travel industry leaders and journalists.
The resort's intimate size ensures that your honeymoon will not be a mass market statistic on our arrival list but that there will be a genuine endeavour by management and staff to provide YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE with the holiday of a lifetime.
Elope to Paradise Weddings
Tropical island weddings are getting more and more popular, whether or not you plan to elope to paradise exclusively with your loved one or with your relatives and friends in tow.
Only two days of residency in St. Lucia is required for visitors in order for them to be married in a civil ceremony performed right at the resort. Catholic Church weddings can be arranged but take at least 3 months of planning, involving the bride and groom's parish priest at home.
At ANSE CHASTANET, weddings are the unique and individual affair they should be and every ceremony is organised in personal consultation with the bride and groom who can also add their own vows to the civil ceremony. There is no dedicated "wedding chapel", instead the bride and groom choose their own "very special location", be it the Treehouse, the beach, the "Miss Ina", the old colonial plantation, a nearby waterfall, the coral reef or the privacy of their room. Wedding ceremonies are limited to one a day. ANSE CHASTANET will arrange for all legal documents and legal processing.
The ANSE CHASTANET TROPICAL WEDDING PACKAGE included all legal processing, lawyer and registrar fee, all messenger and transportation services, wedding bouquet, buttonhole, wedding cake, and bottle of champagne. Optional services such as photography, videography, pre-wedding spa package, national wedding dress, private sunset post wedding sailing trip, live entertainment are all available. Two witnesses are required and can be arranged at the Resort.
Wedding Couples can add the wedding package to any reservation type. Please consult our rates and packages page for information on hotel daily and package rates. Wedding Couple particularly like our all-inclusive TOTAL ROMANCE package. If you plan to elope together with your friends and family please contact us for further details on special group rates and additional information on planning larger weddings.
Nearby Attractions: Watersports

Scuba Location, location, location. This often-quoted real estate cliche can be used to describe the fundamental attraction ANSE CHASTANET resort has for traveling divers. It is in the heart of St.Lucia's very best diving.
SCUBA ST.LUCIA is an SSI Platinum Pro, PADI Dive Center and DAN (Divers Alert Network) Partners in Dive Safety facility, located in the heart of the marine reserves at ANSE CHASTANET just north of the magnificient Pitons in St.Lucia. Founded in 1981, Scuba St.Lucia has established itself as one of the world's top diving destinations.
Situated in the south end of ANSE CHASTANET'S 1/4 mile long, soft sand, secluded beach within a 600 acre plantation, Scuba St.Lucia offers great diving and comprehensive facilities for didvers of all levels.
THE DIVING The dive facility is located on the beach below Anse Chastanet Hotel. Just feet away from this full service facility is the Anse Chastanet Reef which is part of the Soufriere Marine Management Area (SMMA). This reef, which is home to more than 150 different species of fish is comprised of a marine plateau and dramatic slopes that fall away to a depth of more than 130ft.
The shore dive is a required "first" dive for dive guests. It allows divers to feel ensured that all equipment is functioning properly, that their buoyancy skills are adequate for entering the marine reserve and to provide an orientation to the type of diving for which St Lucia is known. This reef is a favourite of most professional underwater photographers and videographers who visit Anse Chastanet.
The boat dives should also not be missed - dramatic walls beneath the majestic Piton Mountains, Superman's flight, a drift dive in the shadow of the Petit Piton, Coral Gardens and Jalousie under the Gros Piton, Piton Wall, the wreck of the "Lesleen M", Anse La Raye and Anse Cochon. Closer to home for the afternoon boat trips but no less spectacular sites, the diver can explore Fairyland, Turtle Reef, Grand Caille, Trou Diable, the Pinnacles and much more...
Night dives are offered at least twice weekly on Anse Chastanet's Reef, which really "wakes up" at night, with many interesting crustaceans on the move, large basket stars, sleeping parrot fish, octopus and squid, bioluminescence and the "THING".
All divers offered by Scuba St Lucia are guided by one of the instructors/dive masters to maximize diver safety and enjoyment. The whole are is designated a Marine Reserve so divers are asked to "look but don't touch". Even empty shells should be left on the sea bed, and great care taken not to touch or kick the corals so hopefully the reef can be preserved for future generations of divers to enjoy. These measures make diving at Anse Chastanet a paradise for underwater photographers. Scuba St Lucia is also an ideal place to learn to dive, with warm clear waters and a shallow, protected reef so close to the Dive Center. The introductory Scuba course is offered most days a week and Open Water Certification courses start every week. A full range of courses; Advanced Open Water, Rescue diver, Dive master, Assistant Instructor, Specialties, are available by arrangement. The pace in St Lucia is always slow and relaxed, but the diving, activities are efficiently organized with the minimum of fuss - the staff are very accommodating and will do their best to help out with "special requests".
We look forward to diving with you!
THE STAFF Scuba St Lucia has a talented and friendly multinational staff. Scuba St Lucia's local dive leaders are true professionals who have logged thousands of dive hours in the marine reserve and will show you the fantastic sights on the reefs.
SIGHTSEEING ATTRACTIONS St.Lucia's spectacular scenery offers many sightseeing attractions. The most dramatic ones such as The Sulphur Springs, St.Lucia's famous walk-in volcano, the Louis XVI Mineral Baths, the Tropical Rain Forest and the famous Twin Pitons are within a short distance of ANSE CHASTANET.
ANSE CHASTANET has created a wide selection of personalized excursions with the aim of showing you St.Lucia at its best. The following excursions are organized on a regular basis:

For the even more adventurous on request:
- Plantation tours - Climbing the Pitons - Botanical Gros Piton Tour - Whale Watching - Day tour to Martinique by plane or speed boat - Day tours to the Grenadines by plane - Tours to the Maria Island Nature Reserve
Activities above water right at the resort include ocean kayaking, sunfish sailing, windsurfing, tennis, birdwatching, jungle biking, exploring the 600 acre plantation of Anse Chastanet and Anse Mamin, sunbathing and shopping in the two hotel boutiques, featuring handicrafts and batik wear, and in our art gallery.
WALKS ON THE WILD SIDE Due to the increased interest in nature tourism, ANSE CHASTANET has developed a special tour program which includes birdwatching tours, botanical tours alongside the famous Piton mountains as well as visits to the island's nature reserves. At ANSE CHASTANET, our estate guides offer complimentary guided walks on the 600 acre estate. Their knowledge of history and local herbs and plants and their beneficial uses has been passed on from generation to generation.
ANSE CHASTANET is proud to present Jungle Biking. Whether or not you are an absolute novice or experienced rider, Bike St.Lucia's exclusive 12 miles of private trails through the tropical jungle located on the grounds of one of St.Lucia's first colonial plantations, Anse Mamin, are "unique in the world of mountain biking" according to Tom Bierl, editor of Bike magazine.
Bike St.Lucia's custom trails were designed to accommodate both the first time rider and the experienced rider on Cannondale suspension bikes. Bike St.Lucia also offers a skills area where you have the option to learn the secrets of successful techniques used by experts under the watchful eye of an instructor before exploring the trails.
For the experienced rider, single track loops were built to challenge their skills. The test editor of Rodale's mountain biking magazine, Matt Phillips, who tested the trails a few months ago, considered the entire setting to be simply "incredible".
In addition, each rider is issued a bell helmet meeting all industry safety standards, and a complimentary souvenier Cannondale/Jungle Bike water bottle. There is a 4,000 square foot covered bike facility and retail center on site for guest convenience and safety, and there also are trail patrol staff. Everyone receives a trail map and signs mark the trail areas according to experience levels recommended.
Guests will have the opportunity to see the 18th century French colonial ruins of a sugar mill, and old church, a 3 million gallon fresh water reservoir among others. There is an abundance of vegetation, including wild orchids and there is also a good variety of birds to be observed. For cooling off, there is even an old fashioned river swimming hole.
2 hour biking rental is available at US39, 1/2 day biking at US49 and full day biking at US69 . Keen mountain bikers can pre-book special "Jungle Biking" packages: a 3 full day jungle bike rental pass is available at US 159 per person, and a 3 half day bike rental pass at US119. Anse Chastanet Resort in St. Lucia has expanded its spa facilities. The original mini-spa is now a full service spa with 7 treatment rooms and hair salon. Located at beach level, the Kai Belté Spa was designed by architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy in the same airy and "in harmony with nature" style his resort guest rooms are renowned for, yet affording complete privacy.
Professionally trained therapists offer a wide range of treatments, including Swedish massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology. Newly added services include shiatsu and ANSE CHASTANET'S own version of La Stone therapy, called Wosh Cho, patois for hot stone. Hair treatments include a tantalizing scalp and neck massage, based on Indian massage principles and reflexology. Also available are Ayurvedic treatments.
Considering ANSE CHASTANET'S popularity among honeymooners and romantics at large, some treatments were specifically developed for them. There is, for example, the simultaneous in-room massage, designed to provide a massage for him and her simultaneously, so they can stay in each others' company. The Couples' Massage Course teaches husband and wife the basic principles of Swedish massage, a popular course actually not only taken by honeymooners but also by anniversary guests wishing to add a new dimension to their relationship!
And there also is ANSE CHASTANET's "ULTIMATE FORGET THE OUTSIDE WORLD TREATMENT" just in case the absence of telephones, radios, and televisions in the guest rooms haven't already done the trick!
Kai Belté beauty products are created especially for the spa. All products are made with the highest quality, cold-processed French herbal extracts with essential oils, Swiss bio-extracts and naturally derived water-based emulsions.
Spa Packages consisting of four and six treatments can be pre-booked and added to any reservation type. Choose any treatment which is between 35 - 60 minutes in length (most are...) from our classic spa menu (not including the ayurvedic treatments which are available a la carte only) The SUBLIME SIX packages consists of 6 spa treatments, at US330 per person. The FABULOUS FOUR package consists of 4 spa treatments at US230 per person.
Alternatively, you can book spa treatments a la carte once you have arrived, or you can pre-book individual spa treatments. Please consult our Spa Menu.
Amenities: ANSE CHASTANET emphasizes the use of local woods and other local products in the room decor and furnishings. Caribbean Travel Tip Bringing Your Own Boat or Plane If you plan to arrive in the Caribbean in your own boat or plane, contact the embassy, consulate, or tourist office of each country you plan to visit to learn what is required for entry and exit. Besides title of ownership, most ports of entry will require proof of insurance coverage for the country you are entering. Some countries require a temporary import permit for your boat or plane.
Authorities in the Caribbean are familiar with U.S. regulations for documentation of air and sea craft. They will detain improperly documented craft that enter their territory. In some countries, authorities will confiscate firearms found on a boat or plane unless the owner or master can show proof that U.S. licensing and export procedures have been followed. In addition, some countries impose stiff prison terms for the importation of illegal firearms.
