Ragged Island Bonefish Club
Come and stay with us and experience some of the most fantastic bone fishing. A golf cart will always be waiting to deliver you to the dock and back, after a hard days catching.
|
More Info: Hello from Ragged Island Bonefish Club in the Bahamas. This second season of fishing for our guests has been an even greater success than the previous one at Ragged Island.
Everyone who has visited the club say they cannot believe there are so many bonefish to be caught. No matter what the weather, the time of day, or the tide you can find 100's of bone fish, sharks, permit, lady fish, and many varieties of eating fish ready to be caught on fly.
From the kitchen. Our conch fritters are the greatest. Chunks of freshly caught conch made into delicious conch fritters. We also serve conch salad as well as broiled or fried conch-just the best you have ever tasted. One thing we kindly request, is please let us carry your bags to and from your room. To the boat and back again. I hope that is not too much to ask. A golf cart will always be waiting to deliver you to the dock and back, after a hard days catching.
What's really remarkable is the concentration of bonefish on the flats at Ragged Island. It's an excellent wade-fishing situation. With the exception of the lagoon flats around Ragged Island itself, fishing can be done by stalking on foot across shallow, while-sand flats. Permit are abundant, cruising across the deeper white-sand flats. You will also fish schools of 4-6 pound bonefish, or stalk a single 10-12 pound dark back bodied bonefish. Or fish 10-20 pound mutton snappers, and jacks as they cruise on top of the rays' backs. Around Margaret Cay, there are schools of ladyfish, which provide about the same excitement as two to four pound tarpon. Arrangements can be made with the club for some offshore fishing - battling the brutes of the blue (school tuna, dolphin, Wahoo). This is a great place to submit yourself to a challenging fitness course comprised of stealthy sight-casting to unwary bones, technical casting to reef heads and pockets, and stretch-your-tendons while at war with blue-water rockets.
If you're one of those who won't be satisfied with life until you've waded to the Ragged Edge, this is for you.
Nearby Attractions: Hello, I am Capt. Brian Rhodes Director of Operations for Ragged Island and Water Cay Bonefish Clubs, Bahamas. Capt. Brian has had 29 years of experience as a guide in the Florida Keyes.
He is thought of by his peers to be one the three top guides in the Keys. He helped many of his clients record many world records. For years he could be seen as the first one to leave the docks and the last one to return with his clients.
Capt. Brian had a fishing show with Curt Gowdy shown on ABC, NBC, and CBS. He also did a show on ESPN and had a radio show in the Keyes.
If you are looking for the pool? Sorry there is none. Only the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, bordered by white and pink sand beaches.
Amenities: Our rooms are small, yet clean and comfortable. Each room is furnished with new air conditioners, dressers, and new beds. A double and a queen size. Tile floors, satellite TV, a private bath, and daily maid service. The hilltop location assures a cooling breeze, no bugs and fine views. The lounge area includes a full cash bar with happy hour snacks like conch fritters and cracked conch (you may not bring your own alcohol). Meals offer huge portions of local favorites, such as lobster and grouper, as well as steaks, chops and chicken. There’s a big screen TV with satellite reception, a pool table, dart board and fly tying bench with every thing you need to create your own secret weapon fly.
For your convenience each unit is furnished with its’ own golf cart to use while at Ragged Island Bonefish Club. Cruise to various wading flats, beaches, or just riding around smoking Cuban cigars and having a cocktail at sunset. Golf carts await you at the airport to take you to the club where you can unwind and meet the guides and staff who will be your hosts for the week. There are a lot of bonefish here… and perhaps best of all; the place has the wild remoteness and isolation that you’ll love. Pagers and Cell Phones Do Not Work.

Caribbean Travel Tip Choosing a car-rental agency When choosing a car-rental agency, ask your travel agent about a company's customer-service record. How has the company responded to late plane arrivals and vehicle mishaps? Are there often lines at the rental counter? If you're traveling during a holiday period, does a confirmed reservation guarantee you a car?
