Hotel Activities Description
SNORKELING EXCURSIONSome of the most spectacular, unspoiled snorkeling spots that the Caribbean has to offer are experienced in this area. Fewer boats are seen here, compared to more populated areas in the Caribbean, therefore the coral formations are well preserved. Southern Belize is renowned for its invertebrate life, hard and soft corals, migrating whale sharks in April and June and seasonal spawning snapper. The experienced snorkeler can explore more inaccessible sites from the boat, while the majority of our destinations are right off the shore of sandy cayes. Our guide will assist you with gear and technique, if this is your first experience. The trip is a 4-6 hour excursion and includes lunch.COCKSCOMB JAGUAR PRESERVEPedro Pop will drive you to the preserve and guide you through this area where he has lived and has assisted in cutting the trails. Pedro is a knowledgeable guide and will share his information about native plants and animals of the preserve. Animals spotted there include deer, tapir, howler monkeys and bush dogs. Large cat tracks may be evident, however, it is unusual to sight a jaguar during the day. Take your swimwear--there is a waterfall where you can have a dip.MONKEY RIVERLeaving from the lagoon across the road from the resort, you will motor up the river and disembark to hike for perhaps an hour along the jungle trails where howler monkeys and many birds can be seen. After lunch back in Monkey River town, your return will be back along the coast and through the mangrove waterways. Take your swimwear along.CAVES BRANCHThis is a unique opportunity to see the country's interior. A 7:30 am departure takes us northwest along the Hummingbird highway for approximately 2 hours ...to the Caves Branch Estate. The guides there will facilitate a river cave expedition, exploring this incredible cave system that still holds Maya Ceremonial Centres, pottery, and great crystal formations. When the river caves are flooded at certain times of the year, spectacular land caves can also be explored at the same estate, and are equally fascinating. Good hiking shoes, sensible clothing and a reasonable level of fitness required. Lunch provided.FISHINGSouthern Belize is renowned for its salt water flyfishing. We will arrange a trip with one of the licensed and reliable local guides, to take you for a rewarding day of fishing for bonefish, permit or tarpon. You may also troll for snapper, grouper and barracuda, if that is your preference. Our kitchen is available to prepare your catch for the evening meal!SEASONAL BIRDING EXCURSION TO REDBANKDepending on the timing of food sources...the Macaws will make the village of Redbank and the surrounding mountains and river areas...their home for 2 to 3 months of the year...as they journey on their migratory route through Belize. From mid January to mid-March approximately...macaws are easily sighted in the the Redbank area.Hiking along the Swazey River...with its ancient rock formations, rushing clear waters and tumbling falls...is an added delight to take in...as you watch for the colorful Macaw.OTHER AVAILABLE EXCURSIONS AND ADVENTURESEarly morning trips are arranged specifically for birding and birding groups...trips both to the Jaguar Preserve and the Monkey River area...as well as Redbank. Land trips can leave as early as 5:30am by road and 6:00am by river.Of course, you may strike out on your own..via bike or canoe for some local exploration......Both are available for your use while you are here.

A small patio with protective thatch roof and rocking chairs offers a full view of the sea from your own cabana.

Meals are served in the open, thatched roof restaurant, where you may view the sea as you enjoy a variety of fresh seafood, continental, local and vegetarian.cuisine.
